Tonbridge Town Team

Tonbridge Town Team is a group of volunteers, helping to promote Tonbridge as a great place to live, work and visit. Who’s involved? What have we done so far?

We manage the TLC loyalty card and prize draw, and produce the popular What's On guide to the town's events Tonbridge Town Team was set up in response to the call by Mary Portas and Local Government Minister, Grant Shapps, for bids to share in a £1m fund to help breath new life into the country’s high Streets. Since then, we have taken the Town Team concept forward and made it an effective means t

o bring people and institutions together so that we can ensure Tonbridge High Street and the wider town develops as a viable and sustainable retail, business and cultural centre. A group of enthusiastic Individuals, businesses, campaigns, the Borough Council and other stakeholders form the nucleus of the Town Team. The only criterion for membership is an enthusiasm for practical and constructive action. This is not intended to be a ‘talking shop’ or consultative group; it is a ‘can do’ body dedicated to making a difference. We organised the amazingly successful 'Taste of Tonbridge' event to showcase all that the town has to offer and followed this up with the launch of our Tonbridge Loyalty Card scheme which continues strongly today. We have also instigated the annual Dragon Boat races which take place on the River Medway in September and the Tonbridge Food and Drink Festival which takes place in May in the grounds of Tonbridge Castle. In addition, we publish the What's On In Tonbridge magazine which has also been hugely successful. We also support other organisations to develop and put on events and more activities are planned for the future! How can you help? We want to hear your ideas. What do you want to see in the High Street? How would you improve things? What kind of events would you like to see in the town? What can you do to help? If you have positive suggestions, post them here. This is your chance to be heard, to get involved and make Tonbridge not just a good place to live, but a great place to live!

Volunteers needed! Castle Ride takes place on Sunday 5th May, this brilliant cycling event raises vital funds to help sick and disabled babies and children.

West Kent Mind have launched the Solace Café in Tonbridge, Wednesdays and Fridays at Christ Church.

The Solace Café provides a safe and non-judgemental environment for people to meet others with similar problems, and to access mental health support and advice from peers and professionals. We are not a counselling service but are here to listen and are able to offer suggestions and signposting about how to access other support in the local area.

Tonbrdige Lions Dragon Boat Races
We have TWO VACANCIES for teams to enter this exciting and popular event!
It is on Sunday 3rd of September on the Castle path of the river.
- Each boat will need a team of 17 rowers including a drummer (who keeps rhythm enabling a steady pace for the 16 rowers). All rowers need to be over 16 years old due to health and safety.
- All the boats and equipment will be provided by the organisors.
- The cost per boat is £510
