Is there any car mechanics here?

My battery on my car wasn’t good so replaced it with a brand new battery and started first time fine then after switching it off, to start again nothing happened the lights went off and came back on like it just turned the ignition again.. done it fair few times but now it will start first time fine, but sometimes will do the no start.. diagnostic reads no faults.. I friend said sounds like it’s not arching properly on the starter motor when it doesn’t start question is this something g I could do myself or will it need a technician? 🙏
