We have sought to find in the traditions of the past a way to clean better in the present.
In the summer of 2019, a kitchen table, a collection of old fashion cleaning recipes, and two friends came together. We handmade jars and bottles of concoctions and tested them in our own homes, with friends and family. We curated a range that we love and trust, each with that sense of rediscovery.
We fondly describe the Gyre and Gymble collection as the “capsule wardrobe” of cleaning. A collection of essential items that do not go out of fashion, augmented with seasonal influences from our essential oils collection.

Our Founders
Jen Sinclair, currently Mother & Chief of Team Sinclair, ex cabin crew and an advocate of a chemical free home teamed up with Paula Spinks-Chamberlain, former Charity Executive, in 2019 to act on a shared enthusiasm for simplifying life.
Their ambition was to replace cleaning cupboard clutter and harsh unnecessary chemicals with a few simple, safe and natural products. But these products must look fabulous and be sustainable. Mission accomplished the next challenge was to share this satisfaction with others.
Undeterred by the Covid 19 UK Lockdown, these kitchen table entrepreneurs used the great weather to photograph images for the website and are proud to launch Gyre and Gymble in Autumn 2020.
Both are Aussies living in Surrey and wholeheartedly agree they are not here for the weather!
Gyre and Gymble – so why the name?
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
We love a good nonsense poem – don’t you?
Lewis Carroll’s “The Jabberwocky” is a sure-fire winner. It’s whimsical, without clear meaning and pure nonsense. But one thing is for certain – it’s about successfully killing a beast.
Our goal is the demise of the “cleaning cupboard beast”. You know the one, don’t you? The one that causes confusion in the supermarket cleaning isle, overwhelm when you open your cleaning cupboard - making bottles crash to the floor. The one that literally takes your breath away when you clean your bathroom! Harsh chemicals, single-use plastic bottles, an abundance of products that all do the same thing.
Gyre and Gymble. Ok, we’ve changed the spelling but I’m sure Lewis wouldn’t mind – we're doing our bit to change the world.
