Work has officially started on a £9 million regeneration project which will see Bridgwater town centre covered in roadworks for 14 months. The Celebration Mile will eventually run from Bridgwater railway station to the Northgate Docks, providing an attractive and safe walking and cycling route for both current residents and visitors to the town. Check out the latest progress on the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier, captured from the sky! Work is continuing at the barrier, which has been designed to protect more than 11,300 homes, despite the project not yet receiving final backing from the government. The barrier is in the early stages of construction, with the Environment Agency revealing in January that the projected cost had risen to £220m in light of high inflation and supply chain issues within the construction industry. New homes designed to be affordable for first-time buyers have opened in North Petherton today. Here, Somerset Council leader Bill Revans praises the “environmental credentials” of the houses, which include bee bricks, hedgehog highways and solar panels. The Batts Meadow estate, developed by Willow Tree Housing Partnership, is made up of seven dwellings. Five of those are affordable rented properties, and two are shared ownership homes.

A heartwarming video has captured a real life 'Bambi on ice' moment. During recent sub-zero temperatures in the UK, a muntjac deer was captured 'ice skating' her way across a frozen brook. In the clip, the female deer trots into view from the undergrowth before her legs are sent sprawling as she takes to the ice - in scenes reminiscent of the Disney classic Bambi.
