Thankfully, the weather improved and there's been plenty of opportunity to explore some of the area’s best locations, stunning scenery and driving roads. Today has been topped off with a visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum, which even had a few MG surprises inside!

This month marks 69 years since the introduction of the iconic MGA. A car that broke new ground in terms of styling, performance and safety, and one that became an immediate success. Just over 1,000 cars were built before the end of 1955 and in 1956 they were streaming through the factory gates at Abingdon at the rate of 300 a week. In total over 100,000 examples were built over a seven year production run, with a large percentage finding their way into the American market.

Today they remain an extremely popular classic with our members all over the world. If you’re tempted to get behind the wheel of your very own MGA, be sure to check out our extensive Buying Guide videos on a full range of MG models over on our YouTube channel.

7 MG SV's and their owners from the MG SV Club attended the Salon Prive at Blenheim Palace on Saturday 31st August. It was a great day out in like minded company and the attention the cars got from the visitors was really interesting. I'm not sure if the car came with a helicopter or vice versa. The stuning all new MG Cyberster GTS was also on display on the MG Motor UK stand fresh from its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

An audience with Peter Stevens Lead Designer MG Rover Group – August 10th 2024

The MG Owners’ Club were delighted to host a very special event held at the MGOC HQ on behalf of the MG SV Club. 12 SVs and a superb selection of MG TFs, ZR, ZS, and ZTs adorned the grounds of the Club HQ. Their owners were treated to a very informative and entertaining insight into Peter’s time at MG Rover. As one of the UK’s best known vehicle designers Peter specialised in the design of innovative and high-performance vehicles, including the MG X-Power SV, MG TF, McLaren F1 road car, Jaguar XJR-15, Prodrive Subaru World Rally Championship-winning car, Lotus Esprit MkII, Lotus Excel and Elan SE as well as BMW’s 1999 Le Mans winner. The MG SV was announced in 2003 amidst turbulent times at MG Rover, and the fascinating story of how the MG XPower SV project was born and implemented is recalled by Peter at this unique gathering of MG enthusiasts.
