We tell stories mainly from the Zimbabwean diaspora with the purpose of teaching, inspiring and providing support for those trying to transition from striving to thriving in the diaspora as we work together to build stronger communities.
Our Name
Mutapa was a kingdom and empire founded by great people and survived over many centuries in Southern Africa. Its capital lay in what is now the Great Zimbabwe ruins. Zimbabwe derives its name from the "house of stone" or "Dzimbahwe" ruins. The people of Mutapa were visionaries who designed and built with purpose. Their work served future generations. We believe our work today will also serve future generations.
Leadership and Readership
Our magazine is non-political and not politically affiliated. We are also non-tribal and we celebrate cultural and tribal events as our communities are made of people who might identify with one tribe or the other. We focus on good leadership amongst the people of Zimbabwe. Leadership is about taking positive action to make changes. These changes will help change individuals and make us better people and improve our quality of life. We celebrate success stories of our people in different corners of the globe.
Integrity
The founders of the magazine are individuals who have lived both in Zimbabwe and abroad. We have worked hard to be where we are in life and will thrive to keep our good names as we deliver a product that seeks to celebrate, inform and inspire others by telling good stories of our people.
Teamwork
Our magazine is founded on teamwork and we encourage and celebrate teamwork for common purposes. We are great and better when we work together. Our little efforts will build something monumental. Just like the builders of Great Zimbabwe, brick by brick they built together, had a common vision and the product benefited them all and future generations. We are in this together. No one else besides us will build for us.
Respect for People
We respect individual opinions, choices, beliefs and values. We ascribe to the values and teachings of Ubuntu. We hold and respect individual and family privacy. Any information provided to us will be treated with great respect and sensitivity.
Good Citizenship
We celebrate the upright members of our communities. We celebrate those who give their time to a common cause and help build stronger communities. We are inspired by exemplary people, who uplift others, invest in their communities, educate communities and respect the laws of the land.
Hope and Resilience
Hope for a better future gives us the motivation to make the difference by taking action now. We celebrate those who give hope to others through their selfless efforts. We celebrate stories of resilience.
To Inspire
The stories of our tradition were told to teach and inspire others. There are lessons to be learnt from each story. We will endeavour to continue telling these stories so that we can all learn and become better people with better communities. Your story, our future, his story.
