The final winner of our screenplay award, Script to Screen, Mashup, is officially in the can! After an intense one‑day shoot, the KIFF team is thrilled to announce: it was a long day, but we did it.
What makes this project especially rewarding is the opportunity it created. Five crew members landed their very first professional jobs — the first steps on their career journeys. And for director Reilly Marcussen, Mashup marked his second narrative film, after an impressive track record of music videos and adverts. His confident leadership inspired the cast and crew, bringing his vision to life with energy and encouragement.
Written by Barry Staff, the screenplay explores a family on the brink of collapse: parents drifting apart, losing sight of their son. The cast includes Sean Meyer and Jessica Tyler as the parents, with newcomer Dean T. Goring making his film debut as Jason, the son.
The film is now in early editing and will premiere at KIFF 2026.
