With hurricanes, Helene and Milton, making landfall in Florida recently, we are reminded of the importance of having an evacuation plan in place for our feathered family members. In the UK, we are perhaps a little complacent in the knowledge that we are unlikely to experience a hurricane, tornado or other extreme weather event such as those we frequently see in other parts of the world. However, with changing weather patterns, flooding, fires and other potentially threatening disasters, it is a good idea to have in place an evacuation plan.

Mimicking a children’s sound is appropriate for an Amazon parrot since most psittacines in this wonderful genus are somewhat perpetually young at heart. When brought up properly, they tend to love cheerful kids, stimulating excitement, loud whining and piercing noises, brand new toys, people food treats, making messes out of ordinary stuff, and, of course, being hugged and petted!
