This album was great for the drive home after the after-party's πŸ‘Š

On this date in 1996, DJ Shadow - 'Endtroducing.....' was released.

πŸ“ˆ #2 for 1996, #62 overall

"Endtroducing..... is the soundtrack to your dreams - a vivid collage of sounds that are familiar yet distant. Using the left-field samples and programmed drum beats of underground hip hop as a blueprint, DJ Shadow crafted an album that sounds truly unlike anything else released in the many genres he borrows from. Instead of using them as a crutch however, he expands on their ideas, often in bizarre and unexpected ways.

To describe the songs on Endtroducing..... can be difficult; most center on simple repeated beats and sounds that drift in and out, being sped up and slowed down over the course of the song with lots of vocal samples scattered about, but that description really sells the record short. Many tracks take their time, building momentum over seven or ten minutes, while others come crashing out of the gate at full blast, and still others are mere snippets lasting under a minute. The whole record could be considered one piece as the songs segue directly into one another, but it never feels bogged down and is never, ever boring.

That the cover sports two men in a record store looking for music to add to their collection is befitting - almost the entire album consists of samples, and years after its release each new listen brings with it discovery of some new sound not heard before." - RYM user PigsOnTheWing
