Nice update from the developers at TimeZero Navigation Software introducing their own version of AIS over the Internet, and fixing a recent bug in the integration of PredictWinds Data Hub Over the Internet AIS for the iBoat App.

We love this app, it has by far the cleanest interface for displaying NMEA data and tidal information. a
And the ability to switch between Vector, Raster and other layers, including weather overlays.. the dynamic mooring function is very useful for understanding how an anchorage will be impacted by changes in the weather.

And the best bit is the support team are incredibly responsive to fixing bugs, listening to feedback, and correcting chart errors.

We suggest you give it a go, the app is free, all the charts are available to trial for 7 days.

There are one off charges for NMEA and AIS plugins, and weather is either Free or Premium.

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of giving a talk at the Manchester Yacht Club about our adventures sailing in high latitudes including our Viking Route passage to the USA via Greenland 🤩

This was made possible by Ernest Godshalk, the Ocean Cruising Club port officer for Boston area who has been extremely helpfull.

Every time we arrive in a new country on Snow Bear, we’re always greeted by incredibly friendly and helpful locals. The opportunity to exchange experiences face-to-face rather than online is something we value a lot🫶

We hope to do more of this in 2025!

We have been away from the boat visiting friends and families in Europe for the last few weeks.

It was nice getting back to the boat and Newfoundland, but not the weather. After waiting out massive waves and serious wind, we now take the opportunity to move again.

We have met some great people at and can really recommend hiding from a storm there 🤩

And always great to get a picture of Snow Bear when we departed into some grey weather this morning😁

After a pleasant crossing from Labrador to Newfoundland, we explored St. Anthony’s and the historic L’Anse aux Meadows, marking the end of our Viking Route. Toilets on boat are always a very interesting topic. Some people wants electric and others swear to the manual. We were quite happy with the Jabsco manuel toilet with an electric conversion except for the noise and the level of maintenanc. Every 6 month part had to be changed. So we decided to change to a Raritan power flush, which is both manual and electric, which we felt was smart in case had power. Unfortunately, neither the manual or the electric would flush without pouring water in it manually. So another day was spent on filling the holes and making new ones to fit the Jabsco Quiet Flush E2, which is brilliant so far. We arrived to Portland, Maine, and are really enjoying it here. We are on a lovely marina where several people are living on their boats and we are in the center of the city. It is also winter on this marina, so we get some exercise by filling up our water tank. Do you love marking things with a dymo? It is one of those things that are not an obvious boat thing, but that is very useful on a boat! We had some amazing times in the Faroe Islands this year. Not the best place for sailing due to the strong currents and unpredictable winds, but a great place to explore and meet the friendly locals. —- #snowbearsailing #sailing #faroeislands #hallbergrassy

Still working with @carnall_coaching on a work out routine for the boat. At the moment I try to keep four strength sessions a week, but also need to get some cardio done. The weather is not always for running here in Iceland, but found a @kettlersportofficial mini stepper in a marina and it is great for indoor training. When I need some extra motivation I do a Zumba lesson as it just makes me happy. Thank you @sandra_carnall for keeping me motivated 😎 —- #snowbearsailing #saillife #livingonaboat
