and technical crew to tour and production managers, event promoters, rental suppliers of professional sound, lighting, video, staging, special effects and rigging as well as the sectors which keep live events running smoothly such as crowd security, catering, trucking, bussing and power generation. Published in the UK by Mondiale and established in September 2015, TPMEA is the next generation of TPi’s niche expertise in the live event trade media. Dedicated to the region via a quarterly print publication, website and monthly newsletter, the entertainment technology and live production community in the Middle East and Africa will further benefit from Mondiale’s 15-year connection to the continents. In time for the 2018 FIFA World Cup phenomena that kept many viewers glued to their couches, Michael Gill of MGD had the vision to completely change the look and feel of the iconic SuperSport Studio 6. His concept was brought to fruition by Gearhouse Group South Africa who built the set, while DWR Distribution supplied the foundation, a Prolyte Group grid, from which the set and lighting equipment is hung. DWR Distribution supplied a further 5 Cosmolight Srl studio led QuartzColor X5 LED Fresnels, 6 Philips Strand Lighting 300S Softlights with barndoors and 20 Longman Stage lighting Excelsior 184 RGBW LED Bars. A key feature of this year's Miss South Africa was a massive LED display consisting of over 1,000 panels controlled by 2 Green Hippo Hippotizer Boreal Media Servers. Dream Sets relied on the help of MGG, the venue’s in-house service technical provider for professional technical support. The impressive lighting and set design was created by Joshua Cutts and Andre Siebrits from Visual Frontier. During each match, the 828-metre high building’s 1.2 million LEDs act as pixels to display a live stream of updates and light up with the flag of the winning nation. This is just the latest innovation at the world’s tallest skyscraper, which continues to establish itself as a focus for world-class technology and events.
