Stirling Council are once again updating an old post with new information making it hard to find and keep up - but this is the latest post they are updating if you want to read through it to pick out any new information.
** LATEST UPDATE AT SAT 25 JAN 10.45AM (Includes updates on our HWRCs, Wellgreen Car Park, road closures and updated travel advice from Police Scotland) **
⚠️The extremely high winds from Storm Eowyn have caused widespread impacts across the Stirling Council area, damaging infrastructure and closing a number of roads, mainly due to fallen trees, as well as resulting in multiple power outages.
Due to the impacts of the storm, safety inspections will need to be carried out across council buildings and facilities, resulting in continued disruption to a number of council services over the weekend.
We are aware of damage to a number of council buildings and schools and we will carry out a full assessment of the buildings tomorrow (SAT), when it is safe to do so. Any update on the impact to learning at any of our schools will be shared with families as soon as possible.
Our roads and land services teams have been clearing roads when it has been safe to do so, prioritising those routes that are critical to the network. This includes the A9 through Bannockburn and Plean, which has now re-opened - we are acutely aware of the importance of this route for access to and from Forth Valley Hospital.
Due to the ongoing conditions and the number of roads impacted, a number of road closures remain in place: stirling.gov.uk/service-updates/emergency-road-closures/
Please continue to follow Police Scotland’s travel advice: https://www.scotland.police.uk/what-s-happening/news/2025/january/update-storm-eowyn-saturday-25-january-2025/
We are aware that there are still multiple power outages in the area and are working with the power companies. In the event of any power outages that affect you or somebody you know, please call 105 for support from SSEN or SPEN.
Council services affected over the weekend:

• Our Household Waste and Recycling Centres at Polmaise, Callander and Balfron have now reopened.
• All council buildings (including Customer First), community centres, libraries and venues will remain closed to enable full safety inspections to be carried out following the adverse weather. Those who have made bookings for council facilities will be contacted directly.
