Can’t quite believe I’m writing this. As of Friday I have officially left the world of freelance and started a new position as Creative Director for Theorist Media, overseeing their flagship YouTube channel, The Game Theorists, a channel with over 14 millions subscribers and 3 billion views! It’s been exactly 1 year since I lost my job and went freelance and I’ve learned a heck of a lot in that time. I’m also so thankful to all the clients that I’ve worked with over the last year, keeping me fed during one of the toughest years for freelancers. All I keep remembering is that quote, “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. I emailed Theorist on a whim when I realised I was losing my job, expecting no response. But a month later I did hear back, and after 12 months of being a freelance writer for them, here we are! Take the shot, send that email, make that call. It may not go anywhere, but it also could be everything you’d hoped for, and you’ll never know if you don’t try!
