On this day, December 2, 1976, it was the first day of the photo shoot for the cover of Pink Floyd's tenth album, "Animals"

The Hipgnosis collective, along with photographers and cameramen, were to record the flight of an inflatable pig over Battersea Power Station. The pig known as "Algie" was tied between 2 chimneys. During the first day, a shooter was hired ready to shoot in case the inflatable escaped, however, the pig took so long to inflate that only the building in front of a contrasting sky was photographed.

The shooter was not booked for the next day. On that occasion, the pig broke the safety ropes and escaped before it could be properly photographed. Algie disrupted air traffic at Heathrow Airport and landed on a farm in Kent.

Finally, on the third day, the pig was recovered, repaired and photographed. However, the sky was not as striking so the final cover was a combination of the location from the first day and the pig from the third.
