First released in 2005 under the title New Town Original, our debut feature had a UK cinema release which is an amazing achievement for a micro budget film, it was also shot on 35mm which is another technical accomplishment for a micro budget film. Now being re-released under the new title Small Town Psycho this is a timeless thriller of dealing with the threat of violence in a small town. Celebrating the work of our dearly departed friend Darren Kent.

Join us at 8pm on Sunday 9th June for CLOSING GALA: CELEBRATING DARREN KENT

This year’s Closing Gala will be a tribute to the dearly loved and missed Darren Kent, the actor, director, writer and producer who sadly passed away last year.

Darren was from Essex and regularly supported local actors and filmmakers, helping emerging creatives. He attended the Film Festival and the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival every year.

He trained at Italia Conti and appeared in many films and TV shows, including Blood Drive, Game of Thrones, Les Misérables and Mirrors. His feature directorial debut, Abusing Protocol, the Southend Film Festival Closing Gala in 2015, was, deservedly, a sell-out.

This celebration of Darren’s life and achievements will include a selection of his short films and talks by industry professionals.

HI All,
Hope you are keeping safe and well in these rather strange times?
Im not sure if anyone looks at this page anymore? and we haven't posted anything here for years ha ha! but we just wanted to let everyone know that our film New Town Original is now available for all the world to see on Amazon. We could write a book about the journey of our debut film a journey that started way back in 2000. In a nutshell we shot the film in 2003, we did the theatrical release ourselves in 2005 and in 2011 the film was released as "This Is Essex" on DVD and iTunes and now 20 years later from the genesis of the idea....it can be found on Amazon back with the original title "New Town Original" Since this movie we have worked with Hollywood A listers like Ethan Hawke, Kelsey Grammer and Nicolas Cage. But this movie has a special place in our heart as indeed do the many people/companies who supported us to make it happen. This film has been a great springboard for many of the cast and crew involved which was always the intention, to give new talent a chance to shine and a stepping stone into a business that is very difficult to get into, i will finish this post with a quote from the film "Be a doer and not a talker"
