𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐨𝐛 𝐎𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐧 - 𝐃𝐉, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 & 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝

We are all shocked and devastated to hear about the death of our dear friend and fellow presenter Rob Orton, who died peacefully today. Rob presented several shows on the station, which included The Recovery Sessions and the Afternoon Show during 2020 and 2021.

He had a music career spanning 3 decades, starting from DJing at his school discos to becoming a resident at a nightclub in Ibiza and releasing his remixes through Sony BMG. Rob managed to fulfil so many of his dreams and the dreams of every other teenage bedroom DJ, he will be sadly missed by so many of us.

We're thinking of all of Rob's family and friends, especially his children Eleanor & Harry, who he adored.

Rest easy Rob, thank you for everything.

‼️SUNDAY CONCERTS - IMPORTANT INFORMATION‼️

We have been made aware of scammers trying to sell Priority Plus tickets for the Dance Revival concert on Sunday 24 July. Please be extra vigilant to avoid being scammed. Go to www.actionfraud.police.uk for more information and advice.

Priority Plus tickets are no longer available for the Dance Revival concert on Sunday 24 July, but there will be space for NON-TICKET HOLDERS to gain entry into the park free of charge on a first come first served basis.

Gates open approx. 12noon for Priority Plus ticket holders and approx. 12.45pm for free entry, for which no tickets are required.

Timings for acts on 24 July are as follows:

SUNDAY CONCERT – IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

5 days to go until the third concert of our Sunday Concert series where you can enjoy an afternoon full of some of the best pop and dance anthems of the 90s at Dance Revival in Bents Park, South Shields!

We hope you are all as excited as we are! ☀️🎤

Priority Plus tickets for this gig can still be purchased in-person from the Shop @ The Word up until 12noon on Saturday 23 July, they are no longer available to purchase via Ticketmaster. ‼They are selling fast so be sure not to miss out!

There will be plenty of space available for non-ticket holders on a first come first served basis, who can come along on the day to enjoy the concert FREE of charge.

TIMINGS ⏰
Gates open approx. 12noon for Priority Plus ticket holders and approx. 12.45pm for free entry for which no tickets are required. Priority Plus ticket holders are allowed access into a ticket processing/bag search area from approx. 11am at Gate 6 (Bents Park Road, distinguished with a yellow flag). Access to the main park for ticket holders will be approx. 12noon.

Disabled Priority Plus ticket holders arriving to gain access at 12noon should go to Gate 6 (yellow flag).

Disabled spectators who have not purchased tickets should queue at Gate 1 (blue flag). Access will be immediately after Priority Plus ticket holders at approx. 12.30pm.

Those entering the park for general free entry should line up at Gate 1 (distinguished with a green flag) and Gate 6 (also green flag). Free entry access is from approx. 12.45pm.

Timings for the acts are as follows:

1.35pm - Kelly Lorenna
2.00pm - Sonique
2.40pm - D:Ream
3.25pm - Phats & Small
4.05pm - Whigfield
4.30pm - End

SAFETY AND SECURITY 🎒
Please be aware of security measures that are in place to give extra reassurance and help visitors feel safe. This includes bag searches, which will be carried out as you enter the park. To help speed up the process, please try and limit the number of bags you bring and leave any sharp instruments at home.

We are working closely with Northumbria Police who will once again be providing support at the events and ensuring the safety of those attending.

FOOD AND DRINK 🍔🥤
You are allowed to bring your own food and drink into the park however there are plenty of catering units as well as licensed bars within the park selling a range of drinks. BBQs are prohibited for safety reasons.

Please help us to keep the park tidy and place litter in the bins provided. Waste bags can be obtained for free from the information unit within the park. Help us to reduce the amount of waste.

TRANSPORT 🚘🚍🚉
If you are travelling by metro, please allow plenty of time for your journey. For details of bus and Metro services head to www.nexus.org.uk. There are numerous car parks located adjacent to Bents Park on South Shields Seafront. There is also overspill provision on the Dragon Playing Fields, next to Sandhaven Holiday Park. Please show consideration for local residents and do not park in residential areas adjacent to Bents Park.

We recommend you park in South Shields Town Centre, which has a number of car parks and is only about a ten minute walk away from Bents Park. Free parking for the events is available at Wi******er Street Car Park and the former Central Library Car Park (to the side of the building, not the front). www.southtyneside.gov.uk/article/38108/Car-parks
