This little chap in the photo has a hugely important job to do.

But he wasn't quite the star of the show at a recent shoot of ours - that role went to the delicious strawberries! 🍓

We were producing a case study about sustainable vertical strawberry growing under LEDs in Somerset with the guys from FlexFarming and Innovate UK Business Growth South East. Innovation that will lead to net zero, guaranteed supply, British grown strawberries 365 days of the year.

Our bees should indeed be celebrated on 🐝

Ideal time to check out the location of EVERYTHING
Confirm the get in time
Run through the shooting plan for the day - is it realistic ?
Availability of all of the interviewees - who is disappearing as they leave the stage?
Meet and befriend the AV team
Available power sources
Where can you safely store kit not currently in use?
Parking space - VITAL
Filming permissions
Location release
Feeding the crew - a hungry crew is no good to anyone!
Health & Safety risk assessment
Check out the position of the lectern/projector - nothing worse than your speakers having the presentation on their face!

The Royal Engineers Museum was the fabulous setting last week for the launch of Leap Ahead. A Medway wide campaign highlighting an employment programme to support young adults in to work.

The turnout was impressive, with a room packed with local companies all keen to hear about Supported Internships. These one year placements enable young people with learning disabilities and/or Autism to experience the world of work.

It’s a shocking statistic, but less than 6% of people with a learning disability will find paid employment. This simply isn’t fair, or necessary.

We heard from a selection of inspiring speakers, including companies who have taken on multiple interns, those who have been blown away by the intern’s dedication and commitment to learn and others who have seen significant benefits in having a more diverse workforce.

For me the most moving were the voices of students themselves. Ellie’s excitement at her increased independence and securing a full time job. Daniel’s growing confidence and communication skills as he happily chats to customers in the cafe where he works, and Rob who has achieved so much since being given the opportunity of a Supported Internship at a creative agency. He is now just completing his final year at university and is looking for a role as an illustrator.

I have seen first-hand numerous businesses that are effectively solving their recruitment needs by engaging with the programme and a whole load of happy interns 😀

We’ve been to Glasgow!

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, Team LBM were in Scotland to start production on a new film for the British Chambers of Commerce. The location was the National Manufacturing Institute, Scotland and it’s a stunning building and home to a number of entrepreneurial businesses.

Filming continues next week in Coventry.

Liam couldn’t resist trading the gimble for a basketball 🏀 for a few minutes at today’s shoot 😂

It was wonderful to see a group of young carers having fun together & getting a little respite from their responsibilities whilst playing wheelchair basketball.

We can’t help but be impressed with the work Active Kent & Medway do to engage under-represented children and young people through sporting events. Not only is it helping these young careers to build their own support networks, but inspires them to keep active too.

For those that may not be aware, we host a quarterly networking group, , with friends, Emily O'Neill and Anna Wilkinson for Swale based company owners/directors and senior managers, its always a lot of fun!

We're now in our 5th year and celebrate each season with a business lunch at Entrees Catering College, enabling the students to forge valuable links with the business community, while we get to know each other better (and enjoy amazing food)

As its' exam time, this year our Summer Special was hosted by member, Emily Eyre, at Hub Catering Limited on the Kent Science Park, who laid on a fabulous BBQ. We think you can tell from the photos that we all had a great time!

We'll be back at Entrees in the autumn.

The sense of anticipation before a lunch is real, will everyone find the venue and parking spaces, will they enjoy the food, will the conversation flow…

Yay, we needn’t have worried. Our 12th business lunch was every bit as successful as the rest with a buzzy atmosphere, lots of laughing and such delicious food.

Oliver Ross and his students at Entrees, Swale Skills Centre, Kent excelled themselves yet again with stunning, restaurant standard food, what’s more, they really enjoyed the experience too.

Thanks everyone for coming, it was lovely to get to know you all a little better today, who would have thought we had a bee keeper, a punk rock enthusiast and an expert rabbit catcher amongst us!

'It's good to know...'

With our two 16 year olds just discovering their first party season 💃🕺(and our anxiety levels soaring) it seems a good time to share the 'Safer Streets' campaign films that we produced for the Task Force and Medway Councill a few months ago.

Kent Construction Expo 2022 was just the tonic we needed after a few weeks of political turmoil.

In our county we’re extremely fortunate to have a buoyant and entrepreneurial construction sector, and it’s this entrepreneurial spirit that's enabled the sector to weather the impact of the pandemic and start to plan for business growth.

There are serious challenges ahead, but you feel that the industry will take the necessary steps to ensure they'll come through this tough period even stronger.

We were delighted to be a “partner” for the event at the Kent Event Centre, Detling once again. Our Lavender Blue Media film crew were there to create a video that captured the “buzz” at the expo and to interview construction leaders, guest speakers and exhibitors.

Don’t know about you, but we can’t quite believe that Kent Vision LIVE was two whole weeks ago!

It took a few days to come down from the high that we got from simply being with so many friends, clients and welcoming faces.
