Short term wins don't always equate to long term success.

Let me explain...

TikTok in the US went down for just under 48 hours, and in a "quick cash grab" mentality, some influencers exposed themselves as lying about the services/products they had been pushing to their audience.

One in particular had been selling workout programmes... she had not done.

Her brand was destroyed as soon as she pressed post.

Yep, she probably cashed in on the views from the creator funds, but TikTok was back 48 hours later, and her reputation and the trust in her brand were ruined.

Businesses that build their brand on authenticity and withhold their values are going to have better longevity.

Mean what you say, and say what you actually are going to do - it's that simple.

Iā€™m Heather a social media manager for small to medium businesses šŸ‘‹

šŸ“± Worked in digital marketing for nearly 5
years, working in house for 3 years and now coming up to 2years freelance

šŸ§  My main (and favourite) area of expertise is organic social media marketing, building your brand awareness and making you known far and wide

Consumers are here too, engaging with brands, making buying decisions, and trusting recommendations from their network.

Why should B2C brands pay attention to this?

āœ… People connect with people, human-led brands stand out.
āœ… Educational & entertaining content drives engagement.
āœ… Conversations build trust...and trust drives sales.

TIKTOK IS OVER...

Potentially, in the US šŸ«¢

If you're chronically online like me you may have seen that the fate of TikTok in the US is uncertain, and from Sunday the app may shut off completely for users.

Whilst the UK isn't directly affected by this unless you have an international audience, it's important to take this as a learning opportunity.

You can't always put your eggs all in one basket, we are renting our space on these platforms... and we could get turfed out at any moment.

Widen your digital marketing efforts to email marketing, blog posts etc to make sure you're always covered if one outlet should fall flat.

The rumour on the street is that Youtube Shorts will be snapping up that US Tiktok audience, so if you're not already on Youtube... maybe it's time!

The reality of where you'll find me between 6pm and 9pm šŸ’»

Iā€™ve really tried to embrace the early bird lifestyle, but I'll be honestā€”itā€™s just not me.

Iā€™m 100% a night owl šŸ¦‰, and evenings are when I feel the most creative and productive!

If you ever see an email from me at 8am sharp, trust meā€”itā€™s been strategically scheduled the night before šŸ¤£... and probably this post too!

Evenings work perfectly for my business because thatā€™s when my clientsā€™ audiences are scrolling their phones, making it the ideal time for engagement sessions and connecting with their followers.

Cool fact (or downright terrifying fact?!)

The truth is, you have to be where the consumers are.

And 9 times out of 10 your target audience will be present on a social media platform, whether that's Linked, Instagram or even TikTok.

Ignoring this reality doesnā€™t make it go away. Instead, it gives your competitors the opportunity to get ahead.

So, letā€™s leave those ā€œmehā€ social media pages in 2024 and make 2025 the year your socials are consistent, engaging, and working for your business.

Letā€™s face it...there will always be trolls on the internet.

But hereā€™s the thing: fighting fire with fire? Thatā€™ll never work. Instead, flip the script.

When negative comments pop up, donā€™t ignore them. Respond politely and professionally. Why? Because theyā€™re actually doing you a favour.

Every comment, even the negative ones, drives engagement. And engagement tells the platform that your content is worth showing to more people.

So, while trolls think theyā€™re damaging your business, theyā€™re actually helping more people discover the amazing work you do.

Next time you spot a troll in your comments, remember that theyā€™re just boosting your visibility. Thank you, trolls! šŸ˜Ž
