I have always loved designing, I was always that guy at any workplace who was asked to design stuff. Need a poster? Ask the Design Guy! Need a logo? Ask the Design Guy! Need your bosses head photoshopped on something? (not recommended) Ask the Design Guy!
After receiving my BA (hons) in Digital Animation & Design, and working briefly in the industry i started an online portfolio called “PINK DROID ART”, just to show case my character designs and art work. When lost my job in the I then worked in retail, however I continued designing on the side. The odd logo here and there, a poster for a work colleagues charity event, music artwork cover and few character designs. I didn’t charge a penny!
Then it came to me, people were asking me to design their logos/posters/artwork for small businesses. What was my price? I didn’t know where to start...so i googled it. Only to get knocked back on my pricing - “sorry thats a bit out of my price range”. I was recommended by a friend recently to design a logo for a small business, again my price got knocked back! Then I thought, these people are local to me, they are small, just hobby enthusiasts trying to earn a little extra cash (and i am charging high prices, like I am some sort of top of the range design guru). These small local businesses, just wanted something to make their business look more professional; perhaps they couldn’t design or they had an idea they just couldn’t computerise; perhaps they just got overpriced by people like me...
So then the idea came to me! I love designing, and in a time when stay at home parents like earning a little extra cash through crafting, parties, princess-ing (big call for this), nail designing and dog walking, why shouldn’t they have someone design them a decent logo that they can use for their social media Pages, websites, posters, clubs or for any purposes.
I wanted to offer a simple yet professional design service, at an affordable price for local businesses. At the moment I am in lockdown, so apart from teaching and marking from home (I am teacher now by the way), I thought lets get the ‘Pink Droid’ finally up and running, with a few tweaks here there.
So there you have it “PINK DROID” logo and design.
