1984, Amstrad augmented its U.K. manufacturing capacity by building a new 160,000-square-foot factory at Shoeburyness. The new factory began manufacturing consumer products, such as medium-sized color television sets and VHS video recorders. Amstrad achieved in two years, 40 percent share of the U.K. audio market
