CELEBRATE SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
Small Business Saturday was originally an American shopping holiday but soon spread across the Atlantic and is now celebrated annually on the first Saturday of December in the UK.
The idea is to get people to give big business a miss for a day and support the friendly shops, garages, cafes, restaurants, garden centres, travel agents and bars in their neighbourhood.
The hope is that we will all discover just how enjoyable it can be to help out local small businesses - and return time after time in the future.
The pounds you spend with small businesses in our area will also make a difference beyond retailers' doors. Small businesses create local jobs and pay local taxes, which keeps money circulating within communities.
Shopping small in the run-up to Christmas can also be environmentally friendly by reducing the distance that goods travel.
Small can be beautiful too and the chances are you will make many surprising discoveries when you walk through the doorway of a unique, independent business.
As a small business ourselves, we are happy to support other small businesses and encourage people to shop local this December 7th!
