Prince Harry’s Concerns Resurface as Windsor Castle Faces Security Breach
Prince William’s family rattled by masked intruders, echoing Harry’s warnings about royal security.
Prince Harry’s longstanding fears about royal security seem validated after a significant breach at Windsor Castle brought Prince William, Princess Catherine, and their children into potential danger.
On Sunday, two masked men invaded the royal property, targeting farm vehicles near Adelaide Cottage, where William’s family resides. Despite security measures in place, the burglars escaped by smashing through a frequently used gate, alarming the Wales household.
The incident comes amidst ongoing discussions about royal security, with Prince Harry previously expressing doubts about the safety of staying at royal residences. According to royal biographer Robert Hardman, Harry had declined to stay at Buckingham Palace during UK visits, citing inadequate security, choosing anonymous hotels instead.
A former Palace staff member responded to Harry’s claims, noting, “I’m not sure you could get anywhere more secure than the Palace. Maybe he was worried about the mice.”
The recent breach highlights growing concerns. Following Windsor Castle’s decision to remove armed guards from two public entrances, the intrusion has sparked calls for stricter security measures.
Prince Harry, who has been vocal about the risks his family faces, previously shared in an interview, “It’s still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor... whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me.”
Currently engaged in a legal battle with the UK government over personal security provisions, Harry’s next court hearing is set for January 2025. The Windsor Castle breach further amplifies his argument for heightened protection for all members of the royal family.
