Two men have been arrested following an altercation that resulted in the death of a man at a business in Withernsea yesterday evening, Friday 11 March.

We would like speak to him following a burglary at a York hotel last month as we believe he will have important information that will assist our investigation.

During the incident, in the early hours of Wednesday 16 February at the Lady Anne Middleton Hotel, a man forced entry into the hotel and assaulted the victim multiple times by punching and pushing him and putting him in a headlock as if he was trying to strangle him.

After the assault, he threw a computer monitor, keyboard, mouse, a sign in a metal frame and a chair at the victim leaving the victim severely shaken up after the incident.

Man arrested after woman found deceased in Thornton-le-Dale ⬇

We're at the scene of a serious incident at a residential property in Thornton-le-Dale which took place shortly before 12pm today (5 January 2022).

We can confirm that a woman was found deceased at the property and this is currently being treated as a murder investigation.

A man has been arrested and investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

A scene guard is currently in place and is expected to remain for some time.

Emergency services are currently in attendance at an ongoing incident at the Grand Hotel in Scarborough.

The hotel and surrounding buildings have been evacuated as a precautionary measure and the area surrounding the hotel, including St Nicholas Cliff and the Spa Bridge has been cordoned off to allow emergency service to attend.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area.
