Unfortunately due to personal reasons we’ve had to cancel The Court Jester (Cancelled) as well as the Canterbury, Ashford and Sandwich jive classes for the time being.

Interested in learning to dance in a friendly atmosphere? We run three drop-in 1940’s/50’s style jive classes each week:

7.30pm Mondays
(except Bank Holidays)
Canterbury Baptist Church Hall,

7.45pm Wednesdays
Elwick Club,
Church Rd,
Ashford, Kent,
TN23 1RD.

7pm Thursdays
(except the 2nd Thursday of the month)
Guildhall,
Cattle Market,
Sandwich,
Kent,
CT13 9AH.

All regular classes are £6/£5 reduced (unemployed, retired, student and NHS staff) per person per class, cash only on the door.

Each week we teach a short jive routine and then add to those moves and build on what you’ve learnt. The classes are aimed at all levels and are very suitable for beginners. You won’t need to come with a dance partner as we have the option of swapping partners in the class.

As well as the regular jive classes we organise occasional weekend workshops in other swing dances, have a regular Thursday pizza and dancing event every few months at The Drill Hall, Sandwich Quay, Sandwich, Kent, CT13 9EN and dances with movies, plays or dance workshops at the atmospheric art deco Empire Cinema,, 15 Delf Street, Sandwich, Kent, CT13 9HD.

The Court Jester (Dancing at the Empire Cinema) at Empire Cinema, Sandwich is just a small part of Le Weekend Medieval organised by the Sandwich Medieval Centre.

This really is a fantastic event with so much to see and do all weekend.

Our next combined movie and dance night, The Court Jester (Dancing at the Empire Cinema)at the atmospheric 1937 art deco Empire Cinema, Sandwich. Music for jive and swing dancing from Canterbury Jive classes/DJ Reverend Boogie; rock’n’roll, rockabilly, doowop etc.

During Le Weekend Medieval so 50% of the money taken will be donated to the Sandwich Medieval Centre.

Thank you everybody who came to the Collegiate S**g Workshop yesterday, it was so much fun and you all did so well.

It’s a real privilege to get the chance to teach at the wonderful Empire Cinema and because of the success of yesterday’s event we are looking forward to many more workshops, definitely Collegiate s**g but also aiming to teach a big selection of other original dances from the 1920s to the 1950s.
