There are no more markets for me now in January so I’m now in February mode. I should have been at more markets this month but just like before Christmas I can’t count my chickens before they’re hatched, needless to say there have been some cancellations again. Sadly I won’t be at Liverpool Albert Dock or Cheadle this month so please accept my apologies on that one, it’s unclear whether I’ll be able to attend March at the moment so if you usually visit me at either of those please watch this space. My usual Trentham market has been moved a week early so please note that it will now be on Saturday 8th February not the 15th as originally advertised by Makers Market, I will still be there but as a result Sandbach has had to be forfeited. That brings me nicely onto Sunday 16th at Tarporley and then my return to Congleton on Saturday 22nd. February will end with my final market of the month but the first market of the year back at Nantwich artisan on Sunday 23rd. Don’t forget that through all of this Mother Nature also likes to throw her hand in mixing pot and disrupt things too so all of these are subject to change should she decide to throw another storm at us. While I know that things are a little chaotic with markets at the moment, fear not you can always order online if you can’t get there. Online orders are shipped out several times a week so you can still get your hands on your crochet squidge, hooks and kits from the comfort of your own home. Please don’t forget us traders if your market gets cancelled, we’re still here trying to make a living everything you see can be sent out no problems.

There was something new on my market this week, did you spot it? You know I love a crouched pouch and this one was a real change for me. It was made using variegated yarn so the colours blended so lovely and there was no ends to weave in, if you know me well you’ll know I hate to weave in ends, I will do anything to avoid it. Is there something you hate about your craft, something that you will do anything to avoid but know it’s necessary to get that tip top end item, let me know in the comments

I’m up bright and early today for Congleton Makers Market. I haven’t been to Congleton since October due to commitments at Christmas markets so it’s really exciting to be going back today. We’re open 10am-4pm so if you’re coming along come over and say Hi. The market will be along the length of Bridge Street and I’ll be set upside outside The Space up at the top by the traffic lights. So today I was busy working away with my market prep for tomorrows market and I was doing my usually bulk making of Pom-poms ready for my baby booties and suddenly I thought what do you call a group of Pom-poms, you get a gaggle of geese, a flock of birds so what is the group name for Pom-poms, turns out it’s a puff of Pom-poms. I’m haven’t posted for the last week mainly because I’ve been sulking about the new feed on Instagram. It’s been causing me some concerns because while I know change is a good thing, for me I’d finally got my feed working the way I wanted and looking aesthetically pleasing, while it’s easy to change for me it’s quite a big job because when I took all my pictures I took them in square format, square was great for me because that’s also what I needed for Etsy, so for me to now have to go back over all of my old photos and retake them and then moving forward take two sets one for insta and one for Etsy just seems like an utter waste of time. I’m hoping Insta gives us the option to have a button to personalise it how we want whether it’s is the new or the old square format, that to me seems to make the most sense. I’ve made the decision that I won’t be taking two sets of photos so with that I will now have this new format of making it look like a Polaroid instead. So today I’m sharing my market best seller form this weekend. I’m sure it will be no shock that with the cold weather the baby booties were a sell out.

It means so much to me when I receive reviews for my kits. While every effort is made to ensure that they are the best they possibly can be, there is always a moment of holding my breath waiting and hoping that they are well received, The reviews add that final seal of approval. By leaving a review not only does it give me all the feels but it also helps with the Etsy algorithm too. It’s tells Etsy that you loved this kit and they then push it out to a wider audience which helps to promote further sales. We are live. My gorgeous snuggle square snood is now live in the shop, it comes complete as a pdf pattern, printed pattern and a kit. I get asked for this all the time at markets especially this multicoloured version because this is what I wear as part of my market uniform. People really love it and now there’s the opportunity to make your own version. It’s the perfect pattern for using up your scraps or you can select the kit version which comes with carefully curated colours to suit any taste. I can’t believe I’m writing this and can’t believe how quick this has come around but it’s a return back to markets again for me this week. I’ll be honest once you’ve had a break it’s really hard to get back into the rhythm especially when the weather has been so dire. However I’ll wrap up warm and start my market year off with a bang with two great markets this weekend. There will be Trentham on Saturday and Tarporley on Sunday. It’s another snow day here in Sandbach today. I hate this weather as I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to driving or walking in the snow, it just makes me want to retreat and stay at home by the fire. This weather has given me the opportunity to sort some patterns out for future releases though. It’s on my to-do list this year to launch at least one pattern a month which is to be released as a pdf, printed pattern and a full kit. Can you guess what the first one will be?

This week I’ve finally got around to listing my Learn to Crochet Course as an e-book, perfect for snowy days or if you have a new year resolution to learn a new skill. Just over a year ago I started to deliver crochet courses to some lovely ladies. It’s such fun to deliver these courses and from those courses my Learn to Crochet at Home Kit and book were born. I wanted to ensure that the course was accessible to everyone whether they could attend a face to face course or not. The course literally takes you from how to hold a crochet hook right up to being able to finish a final project which showcases all the stitches you have learnt, it is designed for total beginners - bonus points…it’s also been created for both left and right handed learners. The crochet book includes full colour pictures, in depth videos and access to the private Facebook group where you can share your makes or get additional support from me. Now’s the perfect time to learn during these cold days and evenings so what are you waiting for, you dint even need to wait for the postman to deliver it. Did you know I also have a full kit available too? In the words of Britney Spears “oops I did it again”!
It’s that time of the month again where I look to see if I’ve been successful at getting Star Seller. I’m so pleased to have received it again. It’s a lot of hard work and Etsy was so busy before Christmas that I genuinely forget how well I’m doing things, it just becomes autopilot getting things out. It’s so nice to get this monthly recognition that I’ve met their standards, it’s like my own little special pat on the back. What better way to spend another snow day than to start a new crochet pattern? I’ve got a lovely selection of patterns on my Etsy now and they continue to be added to all the time. Even better I have patterns in printed or pdf versions as well as full kits. PDF patterns are perfect for days like this as you don’t need to rely on the postie to get it to you. They’re instant download and if like me you use your phone to store patterns they can be downloaded straight to you library or bookshelf. What more can you ask for?
