Box art development on "Frenzy at the Factory"

The game is a light, fun filler and I've tried to portray that in the design.

I've been having great fun developing the art and graphic design for a new, small box game called "Frenzy at the Factory!"

All vector based artwork that's allowed be to create some cool robots and then manipulate the poses.

The cards below represent an on/off switch that the player can manipulate in the game so I re-designed each scene to add a bit of dynamism to the game when you flip the cards.

It's always one of the best feelings in the world to finally receive a published game that I've illustrated.

This one was a completely unique experience, a couple of months work on a single image, the biggest image I've ever created, a whole theme park mind, but a single image non the less.

Well it's been one hell of a ride!

A few years ago I teamed up with James Emmerson and Board game Hub to make the sequel to the hugely popular game Tranquility. That game was Tranquility the Ascent.

The deal was a partnership, for myself to put months of work into doing the graphics and the illustrations, the marketing for the game, for James to come up with the new game mechanics and rules, and for Board Game Hub to cover the rest, the manufacturing and distribution.

The kickstarter was a big success and we were all set to get it produced. The game was all done, all that was left was for Board Game Hub to get it over the line, get it manufactured and shipped out to our backers....
..except they didn't. They went radio silent until late last year when they sent out a message to say the money was gone and there was no game to be delivered.

Myself and James we're devastated by this, not only had we put 100s of hours in, not only were we out of pocket by 1000s but we were, by association at least perceived as complicit in this and risked some serious damage to our reputations.

It was then that we reached out to Lucky Duck Games and after a few weeks of negotiation, we managed to strike a deal where they would fulfill the commitment to our original backers and also publish the game worldwide. We'll be forever grateful to Vince and his team for stepping in!

This week has seen the first shipments reach our backers and I'm so happy it's all over. It's not been the journey we expected, we've taken some massive hits along the way but today, our backers are happy at last, our obligation is fulfilled and we've managed to undo most of the damage that Board Game hub inflicted.

If you backed us originally, thank you so much for your patience. We've shared in your frustrations but we got there in the end!

A bit of behind the scenes development from this morning.
These are the vector templates for our 3D player tokens for A Wayfarer's Tale. Broken into different heights in a contour format. These will be used as a guide for our 3D artist to make the final files and renders.

We've decided not to do stretch goals on our kickstarter and take a more organic approach to adding and releasing further content.

Here are a few concept pieces that we've been developing into new cards and character tiles. Loads more be added to our game in the coming weeks and an exciting phase in our development as we open up the floor to backer suggestions.

It's so nice to see others invested in our concepts and willing to help us elevate the whole game.

We're live!

After a year of development, loads of hard work, and more recently, sleepless nights as work escalates to this moment, we're finally live on Kickstarter with A Wayfarer's Tale, a journey begins.

We've done our best to make sure we've improved upon the Golden Geek Award nominated game to make this the best it can possibly be.
