My frustrations with my golf swing continues. Went up to the practice field last night to get some reps in after last weekās shambles. SOOOOO MANY THINGS WRONG - Clip 1 - from what I could tell; too far away (reaching at address); swing too long (my typical over swing) when Iām wanting it shorter and more compact; this is then causing the over swing/loop/cast/OTT where my left shoulder drops first in transition and from there, Iāve no choice but to come outta posture, straighten the back and as stated the cast/flip happens. Clip 2 - decided to stand a little closer at address (felt so alien)- or what felt closer for me. The swing felt better, but in review still longer than I want and the same faults appear regardless. Ball flight the same which is consistent at least and pretty much landed where I was aiming, like clip 1. But itās still not right. How hard is it to get a shorter more compact swing where I can eliminate the OTT/Cast? Or is it a case of āIve played with it for that long, itās an idiosyncrasy Iāve to live with and accept, meaning where I am is where Iāll stay?ā Iāll try post up how I want the swing to feel and look like, again when I swung it my best and most consistent a few years back, so you all can get an idea of what Iām wanting things to look like. #golfswing #golfer #golfstagram #golflife #golfing #golfshot #golfaddict #swingchanges

Tiger Woods, just doing Tiger Woods things.
Stunning approach to 5ft in the first practice round of @theopen @royaltroongc
Watching Tiger Woods practice putting here, on the 3rd green in the first practice round at @royaltroongc, for the 152nd @theopen , shows even the best are still human.
1 out of 3 holed from no more than 5ft. The difference is, thereās nothing riding on these putts, whereas even in practice weād be panicking on how weād cope in a competitive round.
Great fun being @royaltroongc on Sunday 14 July for the first official practice day of @theopen
The Open Swingzone is a great place to come down where you can take on the 35yd putt challenge like I have in the Reel, but also have a go on the Top Tracer Sims and have a free 15mins swing analysis/lesson from the qualified PGA Teaching Professionals, such as my good friend @davebartlettgolfprofessional whoās there all week.
@odysseygolf were also in there with a demo bag filled with all their new AI Putter range.
The setup at Royal Troon is excellent from the spectator point of view.
So glad I got to go there.
Good luck to all who are competing this week. Especially @joedeangolf and @danbrown212 šš»

Bit of time up @hukdgolf today working on the game.
As stated in one of my posts this week, Iāve changed grip and reverted back to Varden from Baseball grip, which I was put into 10yrs ago to aid a swing fault, and Iāve just stuck with it.
After a free Skillest session with @tylerhogarty , which heād offered his followers on here the other week, he suggested a change to Interlock or Varden, but to possibly do this in the off season.
Well, Iām not one to wait, or fear of making changes. So Iāve reverted back to Varden on Thursday and itās just feels natural once again.
Only thing is, my grips are a little too chunky on some clubs, in an aid to keep the hands quiet in the swing. So thatāll be an experimental change in the coming weeks to get a good blend back.
Swing feels decent at the moment. And with the driver you can see Iām looking at the difference in the controlled (normal driver swing) and the all out one again. Just seeing if thereās a way I can fit more of a power swing to squeeze out a few more yards, so I can go in with a club less on some holes for control and reduce proximity. But I have to realise Iām a 7hcp golfer, and a poor one at that most of the times š
But if I donāt practice and see what works I just get complacent and lazy. That only frustrates me more ššš

A great day at Conwy Golf Club for the Proper Golf Series event. My first outing on this amateur tour and it certainly wonāt be the last.Conwy was in IMMACULATE condition and currently in a transition phase with its presentation as they welcome a PGA event in the coming weeks. So the rough was up, and fairways tighter than Iāve ever played there. The wind was constant and frankly BRUTAL on the front 9, where I only managed 8pts!!! Yup, thatās right, 8pts!Back 9, I managed to adapt a little more and manage to grind out 14pts to give me a 22pt total and 3rd place in the event.Thoroughly enjoyed my day!

Who doesnāt like a photo dump?
And more to the point from the SUPER talented @olbphotography
Said it in my main Insta Post, that @rotherhamgolfclub looked stunning and for Oli to make me look good in my new @druids threads and @ducadelcosmauk shows, takes some talent indeed ššš
Great event out on once again by the @2020pro.tour team with a strong Pro & Elite Am field.
Roll on @theastburygolfandlodgeresort on 28 May!

Ladies and gents! I introduce to you Barry of the @theforerightboys
Otherwise known as the Laughing Assassin of @shannongolfclub
Whatās a hilarious day @shannongolfclub when I took on @theforerightboys around their home course!
This is @adam.kennedy97 at his most innocent but funniest moments of the day.
What a good craic we had!
BTW folks, you gotta get over there for a society trip! WHAT A GOLF COURSE!
Handicap Challenge vlog drops Noon today (26 April 2024). Link will be in my bio.

Nice to get out for my first solo event of the season.
The @2020pro.tour Underpin Classic @rockliffe_hall . One of my favourite courses in the UK and the second time Iāve played it in the last 6wks.
So what do you think I shot in the Stableford Event?
OMG!!!!
This is mental!!! Never ever have I done anything like this on a golf course.
So much so, even my playing partners @treyniven @adamwalkergolf and @joedeangolf havenāt either.
Sit back and take a listen folks š
What a weekend!
I came to Ireland to mate strangers and I left with friends for life!
The hospitality I was met with, by @shannongolfclub in particular @orladgeary and the Head Pro was fantastic. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the courtesy of playing your course and allowing me to film there (vlog coming to my YouTube soon). Itās truly a sublime golf course and club!
This also goes to the staff @heritagegolfresort for the welcome and courtesy also, in competing in The Race to LaCala series, which most of this Reel is about.
We shot as a Scramble Net 60 which I think will be just short of the mark, but weāre hoping we may get a call as an alternate in case of drop outs for the final.
But most of all, thank you to @theforerightboys (Barry, Adam & Eric (Nev).
You welcomed me literally with open arms from stepping off the plane and we just clicked! Thatās a rare and beautiful thing, my brothers!
Hereās to more collabs, more having the craic, and much more golf in the coming months and years!
I cant tell you how much this has helped my mental health the last few days - thank you!

Iāve never seen a tree shake with fear as a golfer walked towards it, as it did when Adam from @theforerightboys walked towards it this afternoon ššš
Thank you to @shannongolfclub for the hospitality and stunningly warm welcome.
I WILL be back again to play all 18!
The course is stunning and for March youād think its condition would be that of a course in May.
Kudos to the green keepers for presenting such a good course it sublime condition. Iāve played greens that donāt run that true in summer for a lot of Ā£Ā£Ā£ās!
Itās not quite there at the moment! It really isnāt.
Nothing feels comfortable in the swing.
The takeaway doesnāt feel right; struggling to feel where the top of the swing is and should be; transition is horrific, and then by impact Iāve lost speed, distance and quite often, dispersion.
Head scratching time at the moment as to how to fix it all.
Hopefully I can get Joanne Morley to have a glance again soon, coz itāll be an easy fix, more than likely.

First range session of 2024 completed.
After a stern talking too from Ste Brotherhood of The Tour Experience (needed and thank you), it was/is time to stop messing about and tweaking. As he said, in a more censored context, I know how to hit a golf ball. So Iām getting back to that. No more messing about with different methods etc etc. just focus on what Jo and I have been doing and make the swing as simple as possible. When it goes wobbly itās gonna make adjustments easier this way.
Last night at Hukd felt great, having a clear mind in for the swings I was doing and the practice I was structuring felt good.
The shots attached are 7i, 4hyb and Driver.
More to come from my practice sessions this season from the studio and the course on here and YouTube.
