We’re super excited to be welcoming Becky Alexander to the Verulam Writers group on Wednesday 20th November at 8pm.

Becky is a locally based author, who has recently released “The Other Mrs Eden”, her second book, following the success earlier this year of the psychological thriller, “Someone Like You”- her fantastic debut novel.

Becky will be joining us for a writers talk, where she’ll share with us her journey into writer, her experiences of becoming a successful publish author as well as answering your questions.

So make sure the date is in your diary - and non members are very welcome to come along, for what we’re sure will be a great evening!

Free for members, £5 for non members.

We return from our summer break this Wednesday (4th September) , kicking off our Autumn programme with our AGM, followed by a manuscript evening.

The AGM is a chance for you to put forward your views about the group, and make suggestions for the programme - and it's also an opportunity for you to put yourself forward to join the committee - let us know if you'd like more information on the roles currently available or if you'd like to shape a role for yourself!

We'll also announce the theme for this years David Gibson Cup - our short fiction competition, judged by all members of the group.

Look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday at 8pm!

It's that time of year.... tomorrow is the Verulam Writers summer party! 🎉 Well, we say summer but based on the current very British weather, you might need to bring your thermals and waterproofs! 🌦

It's our last in person meet of the season - and for those of you who have come before, you'll know it's an informal night of snacking, drinking and catching up with your fellow writers. So bring along some goodies at 8pm tomorrow, and join us for a lovely way to end our summer term!

Well, we've made it... We've arrived at day 12 of our 12 days of Christmas countdown - deliberately choosing not to end on Christmas Eve (as it may be a bit too late by this stage for even Amazon to magic up a present for the big day!) 🎁

So for our finale, we've gone a little off-piste again. Today, instead of a book that you can purchase, we're spotlighting the Froth & Fluff blog, by Mandy Carter. A handy little read for when you've eaten too much turkey and need 5 minutes in the bathroom to escape the relatives (she says herself it's the perfect place to read her musings!). Short humorous blogs on everyday life - her latest being about the perils of Secret Santa - but she's also covered everything from hanging the washing up, to DIY, to the best cheesy Christmas films to watch.

Read it here!

John was at the forefront of experimental research into many unsolved mysteries both in the UK and abroad - researching these subjects for over 35 years

You’ll find John’s extensive back catalogue on this fascinating topic on Amazon!

The mysteries in this book include one or two which endure in people’s fascination; despite probable expla....
