Why should your business feature in Salad Days? Let us explain…

Before we owned Salad Days ourselves, we actually advertised our performing arts business in every issue!

Why? 🤷‍♀️
Because it was the perfect way to reach parents and families.

The results? 📈
We grew from 80 to 400 members!

Salad Days helped us connect directly with schools and homes - something other media can’t do.

Now it’s your turn! 🤩

With 22,000 readers (10,000 copies delivered into schools and rest digital views) your business can grow too.

Don’t miss out on this incredible platform to get seen by families who care.

2020…
The year that changed everything!

… and we’re not referring to Covid-19 😷

But, in the midst of 2020 uncertainty, when the world felt like it had been turned upside down, we found ourselves on Saffron Walden common, socially distanced but deeply engrossed in conversation with Harriet, the founder of Salad Days.

Harriet had been a familiar name to us for years- her little magazine had been the cornerstone of our advertising efforts for our performing arts business. We’d seen firsthand how powerful Salad Days was in helping local businesses grow.
But with the pandemic forcing us to rethink our future, we knew we had to take a leap.

The day this photo was taken…
We signed a contract to take over 🥳

We’d never published a magazine before, but with Harriet’s encouragement and our determination to make it work, we decided to go for it. By Winter 2020, we released our first issue, delivering 10,000 copies to schools and local families. It wasn’t easy, but it felt right.

We rebranded Salad Days and poured our passion into every page, knowing how much it had meant to us as advertisers and what it could do for others in our community.

Today, we’re proud to run this magazine! 😊

We’re using it not only to celebrate local stories, but also as a tool that’s helped so many businesses grow- just as it helped ours. From 80 students to 400, our performing arts business is a testament to how effective Salad Days can be.

Harriet continues her work on the Saffron Walden Directory, and we’re forever greatful for her faith in us. This magazine isn’t just a job for us; it’s a way to give back to the community that’s supported us every step of the way. We’ve never looked back.

Oh and thank you to everyone that has and is supporting us ♥️

Great Dunmow Light Switch On & Market

UPDATED SCHEDULE

Storm Bert!

For those of you have seen the weather forecast for Saturday, you will see that not only is heavy rain due all day but we are forecast heavy winds meaning that the event cannot go ahead as originally planned.

After much consideration and with regret, we have had to cancel the outside stage area and market stalls as it just isn’t safe.

We know this is disappointing but unfortunately we have no control over the weather.

On the plus side:

🎅🏼 Santa is still coming to town
💡 There will be (Christmas) light
🎤Children will be singing
🎄Shops will be open late

If you are able to brave the elements please still come on down and support the town.

🎄🎅🏼🎄🎅🏼

Salad Days’ Story

Magazine for parents and carers of children who are in the age range 0-18 years. The name comes from Shakespeare and means the best days of youth - so it’s nothing to do with lettuce and tomatoes! It all started when I couldn’t find the local Brownie group - there was nowhere I could find that sort of information out from, except by word of mouth. So Salad Days - because they’re only young once - was conceived!
