I am in the process of writing a book called ‘All Ears’ which is a tribute to London Pl***oy Bunnies in the 60s and 70s.
Throughout the 60s and 70s Pl***oy Club attracted such stars as Sean Connery, Mick Jagger and Dustin Hoffman but also attracted brickbats from the feminist movement, furious about the Bunnies’ costumes and roles. However, it was at a time when women were becoming more liberal in general and Pl***oy Bunnies soon became established as the height of 70s glamour.
Hugh Hefner opened his first Pl***oy Club in Chicago in 1960. By 1965 there were 13 across the US and the London club also opened its doors in that year. Unlike its US counterparts, the London Pl***oy had its own casino. Bunnies were employed either as Cocktail Bunnies or Croupier Bunnies, who would deal Blackjack, Roulette and Punto Banco at the gaming tables. When the company failed in its bid to have its British Gaming License renewed in 1981, Pl***oy London closed its doors and the Bunnies hung up their ears and brushed down their tales for the last time
Although 30 years on, Pl***oy has returned to Park Lane, the mystique of the original Bunnies has remained, and they have become an iconic symbol of that era. All Ears looks at the lives of some of the London Pl***oy Bunnies and they tell in their own words what it was like to be a Bunny during the 60s and 70s and what they did with their lives after they ‘left the Hutch’. You will be fascinated and amazed to discover the diverse range of careers and lifestyles that followed.
