Over the past two years, Royston Radio, a small, volunteer run community radio station powered by passion and love for our town has been proud to welcome and support new independent businesses. We’ve showcased them on air and at local events, helping them gain the exposure they deserve.

But our commitment doesn’t stop there. We’ve also worked closely with care homes and community groups, while offering free training and opportunities to countless work experience students. We believe that anyone with a passion or curiosity for media should have the chance to get involved, learn, and grow, regardless of background or experience.

Here are just a few of the many kind reviews we’ve received over the past two years, reflecting the impact Royston Radio has had on our community.

One year ago today marked our second year supporting the organisers of the Silver Sunday event in Royston, a truly special day dedicated to celebrating our local seniors.

The station kindly donated refreshments and raffle prizes, and our wonderful team of volunteers were on hand to serve drinks, lend a helping hand, and share friendly conversations with the lovely attendees.

It was a heartwarming day, filled with smiles, laughter, and a real sense of community, a day that reminded us just how special Royston’s seniors are.

We were proud to support alongside Community at Royston Tesco Extra who also supported the event, and Limitless Academy Of Performing Arts who supplied the wonderful entertainment.

Two years ago today, the Royston Radio team came together to volunteer for one of our many community litter picks, this one for Friends of Therfield Heath - Royston. Royston Radio was always about more than just broadcasting; we cared deeply about our town and took pride in helping to keep it clean, green, and welcoming for everyone.

At Royston Radio, our tagline ‘Community is Our Middle Name’ has always been more than just words. It truly captures the heart and soul of who we are. Our small but passionate team of volunteers have given countless hours to support wonderful events like the Thriplow Daffodil Weekend, not for recognition, but because we deeply believe in the power of community. We’ve always admired the incredible work they do, bringing people together, celebrating local spirit, and raising vital funds for good causes that make such a difference. It’s been our privilege to stand alongside them, sharing in their dedication to help the community we all love.

It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Royston Radio.

Despite our efforts to secure support from community funders, none were forthcoming. Unfortunately, this has led to the cancellation of several events and community projects we were due to support in the coming months.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported us over the past two years, and we offer our apologies to those we are now unable to help.

Thank you.
