Smartphone Video Creation Workshop
Why 'Lean Video Marketing' students are able to adopt and action video creation into their business faster than anyone on a virtual training. ๐
Because the first phase of the training is a compulsory face-to-face training day where we fast track the video creation process so as you can go back to the day job feeling in control of what's needed, what's next and how I do that to create your own video content. Simple.
One student said, "it has changed the way I think about video marketing forever".
If you're a business owner or work in a marketing, business development, PR or communications team and want to create more video content to promote your business, get involved.

So when it comes to understanding Lean Video Marketing,
it is invaluable to be able to attend the Smartphone Video Creation practical workshop.
Why is that so?
Well, let me just say it comes down to hands on experience!
Everything that goes on within this workshop, you are not gonna be able to experience within a virtual event.
We can't recreate what you guys get to experience on this one day workshop.
It is very much a tactile, hands on experience.
You're playing around with a lot of the equipment, you're getting to unlock all the features on your phone.
You're understanding, not just the theoretical aspects of shooting with your smartphone, but you're very much understanding the practical aspects as well
with me looking over your shoulder, helping you,
correcting you, telling you the best ways to do things,
looking at the way that you approach things,
giving you a bigger picture of perspective.
And with that all in mind, you will achieve more within a one day practical workshop than what you will ever achieve on a virtual workshop.
So for that alone, I can only say you need to come along
to the Smartphone Video Creation workshop and use this as your basis for what is a Lean Video Mar

Smartphone Video Marketing Intentions for 2022
This is the first working Monday of 2022 and the first โfullโ working week of 2022. So I just wanted to start my new year with a solid intention of what I want to happen in the new year.
I wanted to post a video, because I'm all about video and I want to push video more in 2022.
Intentions show intent, so that's how I wanted to start.
With that, what are your intentions for 2022, let me know? I'd be interested to know.
But one thing to remember is time waits for no one.
So with those intentions in mind, when was the best time to start something new?
Well, it was probably 2021.
When is the second best time to start something new and push yourself forward?
Well, it's definitely 2022.
So with that, I wish you all the best. Get those intentions going and remember actions, well, rather imperfect action leads to action, and action, builds momentum. So let's do this.

How can your organisation become the โTop Gunโ of manufacturing in your industry?
Top Gunโ was the highest grossing film of 1986 and it was also the best recruiting tool, the military has ever had for swelling the ranks of those in uniform.
U.S. Aviation Forces reported a 500% increase in applications, after the release of the film
.
โI feel the needโฆ The need for speed.โ
And the interest wasn't restricted to the U.S. alone.
Personally, within 12 months of seeing the film, I sat exams to become a pilot for the Australian Air Force.
So, powerful was the impact of this film on me. Why? Well, because myself and millions of people saw the everyday life of pilots and their aircrafts.
But what it really came down to was the excitement and the very raw emotion to fly a jet. It's as simple as that.
But wait, your manufacturing business can also create that sort of excitement show what you do and how you do it, not just now but for the future.
Build interest, document the everyday, show where you are, and show where you're going, your processes, your machinery, your products from start to finish - document the lot.
Show what goes on inside your factory, the potential for customers and a growing workforce will follow.
And how do you do that though?
You show them with smartphone video.
Look, you have a TV production studio in your pocket.
Show them what you do and how you do it, to create connections.
Why connections? Because connections create conversations.
And we all know conversations of the starting point for sales.
โShow me the money!โ
โShow me the money!โ
So my question isโฆ
How is your company working towards becoming a โTop Gunโ of manufacturing?
Tag someone who is a โTop Gunโ already.
Or tag someone who needs to step up to become a โTop Gunโ.
Manufacturers. You make the Ordinary, Extraordinary. Let me say that again. You make the Ordinary, Extraordinary. You just just need to show it off more.
You have an opportunity to create connections in showing what you do and how you do it.
Think about all the engineering/manufacturing type of shows that are on TV.
Food Unwrapped.
Inside the factory
And the biggest one of them all, โHow do they do that?โ
A show dedicated to a behind the scenes look at how ordinary objects are made and used. It documents the manufacturing process from start to finish.
The show has been running for over 15 years, across multiple TV networks, why?
Because people find interest and connections in how their everyday products are made.
The manufacturing and the engineering required to make the everyday product, becomes an extraordinary process.
And it is in the extraordinary that connections are made.
But how, as a manufacturer do you capture those ordinary moments?
Make your own show. Turn what you do into show business.
The business of showing what you do with video...
Wait, wait, waitโฆ.
It is not like you have a TV production studio with you 24/7/365โฆ
Wait you do...You have your smartphone.
Your smartphone is a TV production studio in your pocket. It can do it all, film, edit, produce and promote.
And in the same way mobile journalists are filming prime time news stories with their smartphones, equally you and your employees have the ability to capture and document what you do and how you do it with your smartphone.
It is as simple as that.
Turn your ordinary into the extraordinary with smartphone video.
Turn your business into a โSHOWโ business.
Tag someone in manufacturing who needs to promote what they do and how they do it with video.

How Do They Do it.
Use your smartphone, create videos, get your message out to your audience. The BBC does it, why can't you? Case and point right here....
This piece to camera was shot on an iPhone 13 Pro by a BBC cameraman.
It then ran on the BBC1 news, 1pm Sunday. We're talking prime time TV, prime time news with a featured piece to camera with video content shot on a smartphone.
News stations have been doing it for years and I've been saying it for years....
If it is acceptable for professional media brands to shoot and promote their stories with smartphone video content then it is more than acceptable for businesses and marketing teams to do it to promote their business.
Go on that journey with us and we will show you how.
We show how how to transition into video marketing using the camera you always have on you. A device that is always ready to capture the essence of what the business does and how you do it.
A device that will turn your business into a 'SHOW' business.
Showing what you do and how you do it with video to create more leads, revenue and growth.

Iโve done lots of courses up in London.
Taught lots of organisations, in terms of the concept of Smartphone Video Marketing, and itโs really empowering - I love it.
You can see the transformational shift in students within these workshops as itโs happening. They're eyes light up as they reach their lightbulb moment. It's awesome.
Just to give you an idea of what happens inside one of our Smartphone Video Creation (Day Course):
We teach the students the idea of storytelling,
We teach them about the idea of making film,
Frame shots,
The editing process,
The concept of coming up with an idea,
How to storyboard that idea on paper, visually.
The students then go out and film, edit, a really simple sequence that is usually about one minute long.
Sometimes, businesses have actually used elements of the footage from the workshop to use in their marketing activity after the fact.
Since the pandemic, it's been very difficult to be able to teach students face-to-face again. But we're back!
I feel so grateful being able to do what I do.
When creating video, it's easy to self-sabotage your progress when you think your work isn't good enough.
I made a very simple - rough and raw - smartphone video that detailed to our customers how to use one of our products: A fuel tank... A big, boring fuel tank I should add ๐
That said, this little 30 second smartphone video has brought our business over ๐ฏ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ถ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ and ๐ด๐ฌ, ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ that has led to sales.
Some people may call it beginners luck, I say, "๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ง๐ฆ๐ค๐ต ๐๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ช๐ด ๐๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ, ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ช๐ด ๐๐ณ๐ฐ๐จ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด๐ด".
Get your videos made and share them to your customers - You Never Know What's Going To Resonate!
What is Smartphone Video Marketing?
We help SME businesses start and scale their video marketing,
Without video production companies,
Without expensive film equipment,
And sometimes without actually filmmaking experience, by just using their smartphone.
We're not filmmakers.
We don't create the videos for you.
We give you the tools, so you and your team is able to create them themselves.
We're all about teaching and empowerment.
Do you find yourself struggling to outsource work to others?
It's hard to let go of work sometimes when that business you're running is your livelihood.
You want to make sure everything is on-point and efficient.
Delegating work to others isn't a weakness.
In fact, you can use it to your advantage.
Analyse where your strengths and weaknesses are, and find individuals that will help you with those weaknesses so you can play to your strengths.
This video I'm sharing is one of my favourite examples of smartphone footage...
Below is a BBC journalist, out in the field, shooting her news report on a smartphone captured from a selfie stick.
... A selfie stick! ๐
And people worry that smartphone footage isn't as good quality as industry standard - smartphone video is industry standard!
Right now, journalists from the biggest broadcasters around the globe are using their smartphones to capture prime-time news stories.
If you're not capitalising on this smartphone video revolution, then your competitors are going to beat you too it.
Everyone wants new toys... I certainly do! ๐
I'm always the first to get all excited when Apple launches their new products.
But as tempting as those new toys look, we mustn't get seduced into believing that more is more.
Yes, having multiple cameras can be a great way to capture your business from different perspectives.
But why not invest your money into getting a sturdy tripod? Or, upgrading your audio devices?
All of these purchases will help improve your video creation skills, and ultimately help sustain audience engagement for longer.
Our core ethos at Smartphone Video Marketing is this...
Our ethos is still to encourage individuals that feel paralyzed by the fear of stepping out of their comfort zone. And, it's also there for the perfectionists who just need to let it go.
If you're ever struggling, just remember.... Imperfect Action and just get it done!
The corporate image of the video production company coming in with the big cameras and large crew is still seen as the norm.
Anything outside of that image is usually frowned upon.
Even today there's still technical snobbery around the quality of smartphone video.
It started back when Mobile Journalists first pioneered this movement back in 2016.
Fast forward to 2021.... And, we've seen an acceleration in the acceptance of the picture quality captured on these smartphone devices.
Watch your evening prime-time news. You're very likely to see smartphone video incorporated in the news report.
If you're accepting and watching smartphone video during a prime time news broadcast, then why do you shun from using smartphone video in your own video marketing?
I understand people are reticent to change, but by avoiding something so overwhelming positive and easily assessible is only doing you and your business a disservice, no?
Every smartphone now pushes Full HD imagery.
Some devices push 4K, some even 8K.
The technology is constantly evolving.
The smartphones are constantly evolving through every new update and iteration.
The apps on which you film and capture your images are always evolving.
When you compare smartphones to industry standard cameras there's no comparison in which you should be choosing.
But ultimately, it doesn't really matter what camera you use to tell your stories...
What matter is that you tell us your story. Be it, however you want too.
The tools of visual storytelling are there for you to craft your stories and engage us.
Is it me or is everything moving so bloody fast nowadays?
Where's the week gone?! ๐ Can't believe it's the weekend already!
Which means one thing... Putting work aside and focusing on LIFE
Getting that work-life balance is so hard when you're a business owner. Why is that...?
Is it a relaxation problem?
Some strange addiction to always being on-the-go? ๐
Or something else?
Like some people, this was actually something that I struggled with.
But thankfully, one of the benefits of the pandemic was that it forced me to re-examine my relationship with work and life.
Before, I was all about keeping my head down and working until the late evening. I used to avoid prioritising my life in the evenings and weekends.
But now, I stop at reasonable times; get some sleep, and make sure I live my life on the weekends.
The mind needs stimulating from something other than a computer screen.
It needs exercise, family, friends, fresh air, good food, laughter, and rest.
Getting that work-life balance right is a constant struggle but I feel like we as a society are finally on the right track in making this a priority.
... It just took a global pandemic for us to realise something was wrong ๐ ๐
So, with that... Enjoy your weekend, friends!
I'll see you back in the office Monday morning.
We live in a visual word and being able to create visual content as and when it happens is the greatest advantage your business can have.
Become an agile and dynamic business that can produce video content in-house and on-demand;
โ Without the need for video production companies
โ Without the need for expensive equipment
โ Without years of filming experience.
Using smartphone video to create a visual conversation in your customer's mind.
Using smartphone video to generate leads, revenue and growth within your SME business.
That is Smartphone Video Marketing.
If you want to get into video to tell your story, then the smartphone is the perfect place to start.
That smartphone you carry around all day is the equivalent to a TV production studio - it can do so much!
But most importantly, the reason why your smartphone is the perfect place to start is because you know the device so well.
These devices are built to be user-friendly which means filming isn't complicated.
Your greatest strength when starting with smartphone video is your familiarity with your device.
If you're a SME Business Owner struggling with video this post is for you.
The most common concerns business owners have with video are...
1) Experience. You don't have any filmmaking experience. You're a manufacturer not a filmmaker.
2) Time. You're running a business all day every day, you don't have any time to learn how to make videos. Why put more pressure on yourself learning a new skill when you've got business to run.
3) Equipment. Filmmaking is expensive. The equipment costs way, way too much, and you don't have any budget to cover these costs.
As a business owner, I can totally relate to this. All of these are valid points of concern.
In fact, we all have these concerns before we get started.
Ironically, it's not until you get started that these concerns become less and less of a problem.
Only you can know if you want to overcome them...
But at least now, you know other business owners are thinking the same as you, which means you've got a supportive network of like-minded business owners
- all wanting to incorporate video
- all wanting to learn
- all wanting to know what you want to know
- all within your reach if you decide to take that step and embark on your video journey.
My network and I will be there for you when you're finally ready ๐
