Copied from a top dj, but very true
Tonight starts a mental period of Christmas parties for me where I’m DJ’ing a minimum of 3 parties every weekend, right up to Christmas Eve.
Few things to remember though as Christmas parties always brings out the worst in people. Especially those that only have one night out a year and can’t handle their ale …
1) Be Nice - Literally costs nothing to be nice to people. Especially the DJ or bar staff. Don’t like what the DJ is currently playing? Just wait a bit and see if he plays your stuff. If not, ask politely for your favourite song. There’s no need to start throwing insults or doing the ‘cut throat’ sign with your hands
2) Remember, it’s not just you at the party - A bit like number 1, try and remember that you’re not the only person at your Christmas party. If you’re in your 50’s you might like older music, but there’s going to be younger people who have worked just as hard as you this year that like current music. They deserve to enjoy themselves too.
3) It’s never ok the threaten someone - Again, this falls under common sense but you’ll be surprised how many threats DJ’s & Bar staff get at Christmas parties. From insults to physical threats. We all have a family to go home to at the end of the night, let’s keep it that way!
4) Remember we’re there doing our job - It may look like we’re there to celebrate with you and in some way we are, but remember we’re literally there doing a job. Treat us like you’d like to be treated at your own place of work. We’re missing out on being part of a team and having our own Christmas party so that you can have yours.
5) Enjoy yourself - At the end of the day, we’re all there to enjoy ourselves. You’ve worked hard all year, so grab a bevy, let your hair down and read number 1 again ❤️
