Squire’s Garden Centre in Wokingham is inviting customers along on Friday, 6th September to join its 'Plantathon', kick-starting a year of fundraising.
The Squire’s team – as well as charity volunteer helpers – are looking forward to welcoming customers for a fun and rewarding day planting up containers. The completed pots will be available for customers to purchase on the day, with profits going to CLASP, Wokingham's self-advocacy group for people with learning disabilities. Customers are encouraged to come along chat, ask questions and are very welcome to pitch-in and plant-up pots too, in support of some brilliant community causes.
Each container will include a selection of autumn bedding plants grown on Squire’s own nurseries, plus a centre piece feature plant such as H**e or Heather, all planted in peat free compost. The planted containers will be available to purchase for £10 each, representing fantastic value for money, while also helping local charities.
Running from 10am to 3pm. For more information, visit www.squiresgardencentres.co.uk

When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be a found: a convent! Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

A clothes swap is being held next Saturday at St Nicholas Church, alongside the display of Earley's Community Quilt.
The idea is you bring a 'lightly' used garment you don't want any more and take away a garment you will use. (if you don't bring any thing you can still take something - but you get the idea).
The aim is to reduce the huge amount of waste polluting our world - and its quite fun.
Other stalls also running are free visible mending (Sashiko), workshop by Sewing Bee and a stall showing upcycling ideas.
The event will run fro 1pm to 4pm on 31st August at St Nicolas Community Centre, Sutcliffe Avenue, Earley.

🚨 **Safety Warning: Dangers of Climbing onto Train Tracks** 🚨

A recent incident at Reading West Train Station highlights the serious dangers of climbing down onto train tracks. Three individuals were observed on the opposite side of the tracks, and for a brief moment, one of them attempted to descend onto the tracks. Thankfully, his friend intervened and urged him not to, and he listened.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved. Accessing train tracks is not only illegal but can also lead to life-threatening situations. Trains can approach at high speeds and without warning, making any moment of distraction potentially fatal.

We urge everyone to think twice and prioritise safety. The risk is simply not worth it. If you witness anyone attempting to climb onto the tracks, please report it to station staff or the authorities immediately. Let’s work together to keep our community safe!
