Well less than three months into the new year and so far I’ve had to fix the following.

LG Gallery TV coming away from the wall due to insufficient fixings! Installed by one of the major high st stores.

Replaced HDMI lead to sound bar in brand new media wall due to very cheap lead being fitted with no contingency cables.

Samsung TV coming away from wall within a media wall. Was fixied with brown plugs into plaster board.. HDMI lead installed to get the soundbar working properly.

Installed a very expensive DATA Freeview system in two properties as the developer had decided that coax is dead and only wired with Cat6 cable.. Signal was so strong a simple six way spitter would have covered each property at a fraction of the cost.

Installed 65 inch Samsung frame TV on a dot and dab wall that another major high st store installer said was impossible.. The customer was in the process of getting a quote from a joiner to install some wood work in the wall at considerable expense.

Re installed 2 LG gallery TV’s installed again by a major high st store as all the cables were left visible as they don’t bury them in walls.

Re installed a TV aerial that had been drilled to a chimney and its bracket had pulled out bricks in the high winds.

Re installed an external aerial system where the original installer had used internal splitters outside the property..

All these jobs had been carried out within the last 12 months and the customers had either been unable to get the original companies back or had lost faith in them..

Over the past couple of years I am seeing more and more jobs with poor workmanship and more and more companies thinking they can do it all without the proper knowledge.. ( The internet doesn’t always give the correct advice on how to do something properly)

Developers and builders, electricians, media wall builders and that’s without even looking at the national companies.

If you’re having work done then make sure you speak to an expert in each area of the job being undertaken ..

and if your a company wanting to carry out works you are not familiar with get a professional to help or at the very least ask them for advice… I’m always happy to give advice for FREE even on projects I’m not going to be involved with..

Correct cables to use.
AV and networking wiring plans.
Best brackets to use.
Best wall fixings to use.
WiFi and network coverage.
Best Audio visual kit for each purpose.

A busy couple of days installing a full new home cinema system with Jamie Busby from Busby AV and electrical services.. Projector, Full Atmos surround sound with seven ceiling speakers and Denon AVR.. All equipment supplied from Richer Sounds Preston.

Picture 1 was what was fitted in a bespoke penthouse show flat 20 years ago.. the following pictures are what I did today as a normal day to day install in any house.. how times have changed.. Even managed to hook up his old VHS and analogue video camera equipment with a bit of AV magic 🪄..

This is how probably the biggest high st TV supplier left a recent OLED TV and sound bar installation .. apparently best they could do with the kit provided.. The third picture is what an extra hours time and effort achieved.. If it had been my job from the outset it would have had a completely different bracket and there would be no cables showing.. I often get asked to price match the high st installation services … it’s really not the same job.. All installations are planned and take as long as they take.. opposed to a standard install price regardless of the job..
