Our open mic is moving from Moreton Village Hall to a more central location which is easier to get to - The Dry Dock, in Weymouth.

We are sad to be moving on from Morton - a great place, run by the loveliest of people - it was just a bit too far out of the way for some of our performers to get to.

The Dry Dock, however, is also an exceptional venue, right in the heart of Weymouth town centre. It runs a non-alcoholic bar and is a very friendly and welcoming environment to all - more like community centre than a pub, I would say.

We will be running our open mic there, on the last Friday of every month, for the foreseeable future. However, to get us started, the first one will be next Friday: 10th January.

As always, all ages and abilities are welcome. We put these events on as a training ground for people who want to get into performing so, whether you’re a hardened pro or just starting out, we would love to see you there!

We went to The Dublin Castle in Camden last night to support to fabulous and at the open mic.

The Dublin Castle is an incredible venue, where many big names such as Amy Winehouse, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Madness, Oasis, Madonna, Prince and the Black Eyed Peas played on their rise to stardom.

Some of them even rose to fame BECAUSE of playing there, regularly.

I’ve wanted to write my own music for SO LONG but had never really given it much of a try because of a little voice in my head that whispered “you can’t do that” each time I thought about it. I’ve always been pretty hard on myself, pretty fixed mindset and a bit of a perfectionist by all accounts. What good has that ever done me? Zilch. All it’s really done is stop me from trying in the first place, or from enjoying my successes because “it could’ve been better”. Goodness me! How did I not see, that:1. You only get better through trying and failing and learning and trying again, and2. By setting my bar for ‘success’ so very high, I was just robbing myself of all the joys of the experience, and totally missing the point. I’m not gonna be doing that anymore. 💃🏼 “By this time next year, I want to be able to write my own songs on the guitar” - me, January 2024 Aaaand here is my first song on the guitar, accompanied by the wind and sea choir (how very kind of them). Remember that you’re awesome, and capable of aaaanything you want to do or become. Don’t ever let your own mind be the thing that stops you from moving forward, from trying things out or making moves towards your goals. To be human is to be beautifully imperfect. Love ❤️🤟🏽

I had the most awesome gig last night at The Duke Of Wellington in Wareham. The atmosphere and the people there are so lovely, I’d totally recommend checking it out if you’re looking for somewhere to have some delicious food and meet some great humans.

Dave and I are re-vamping our FATP act for the new year by changing from backing tracks, to using the looper. It’s quite tricky but we’re having lots of fun doing it and it’s starting to sound great! Can you get what this song is?

We had sooo much fun at our Christmas open mic, singing Christmas songs and playing games. Thanks to all who came and made it a great night! As of the New Year, we will be moving our open mic to Weymouth, at The Dry Dock! More details to follow soon. Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄✨

That moment when you get invited to a party with Brian May and Roger Taylor but you can’t go because you have a gig… on Portland 🥹🤣

Yesterday, we went to London to watch and support Chris at The 100 Club. He performed with Ben Waters (one of the best and most well known boogie woogie pianists in the world!) and Lola Lang, Roger Taylor’s daughter. It was epic!

Dave was invited to a party tonight, that Queen will be going to!! However, he has a gig, and so instead of accepting the invite for something as awesome as that, he’s choosing to honour his commitment. “Why??” You ask? Watch him explain in this video.

It’s tomorrowwww!! 🎉

Stephen blew us all away with his magic tricks in last month’s open mic. We look forward to welcoming him back tomorrow night for some more mind-blowing!

Today, Dave taught us a some piano theory. He explained all the basic things you need to know in order to play piano, in about 5 minutes. You can really tell he was a teacher for 15 years!

The Christmas open mic is coming up, on Thursday 5th Dec. Can’t wait to see you all. Remember to bring cash for drinks, snacks and the raffle! 😁
