DON'T MARRY A MAN YOU CANNOT SUBMIT TO

Some time ago, I counselled a lady who was about to get married in a month's time. She revealed that she wouldnā€™t share her salary or financial plans with her fiancĆ©. She even owned land he didnā€™t know about. This made me question her decision to marry someone she felt the need to hide things from.

While I understood her desire for independence, I couldnā€™t ignore the deeper issue: this was a clear sign that she wasnā€™t willing to fully submit to the man she was about to marry.

Submission, contrary to popular opinion, is not about giving up your identity or becoming less of who you are; itā€™s about building a partnership where trust, openness, and respect thrive. When you choose to marry someone, you are making a covenant to share your life, dreams, and resources with them. Hiding thingsā€”especially something as significant as propertyā€”can create deep fractures in the foundation of your marriage.

Marriage should be built on trust and openness, where both partners share their lives, dreams, and resources. Ephesians 5:22-23 teaches wives to submit to their husbands, but submission isnā€™t about losing your identity; itā€™s about mutual respect and partnership.

If you canā€™t submit to or trust your future husband, reconsider the relationship. Trust and submission are vital for a healthy, God-centered marriage. Before you say, "I do," ask yourself: Can I submit to this man? Can I trust him with my future, my plans, and my heart?

If the answer is no, reconsider your decision. It's better to remain single than to enter a marriage fraught with tension and conflict.

This first year has been a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with moments of pure joy, small disagreements over who left the light on, and plenty of reasons to laugh at ourselves! šŸ˜„ Weā€™ve had our share of surprises. Who knew that deciding on dinner could be as challenging as climbing Mount Everest? šŸ˜‚ Yet through it all, weā€™ve learned that love isnā€™t just about the big romantic gesturesā€”itā€™s about the small, everyday things that matter most. From holding hands during tough times to sharing inside jokes (and sometimes our snacks, even when I donā€™t feel like sharing šŸ˜…), itā€™s been the simple moments that have truly defined our journey.
