Last week in my work planner.... I am using the B6 Academic Planner. My work planner is functional, messy and changes and adapts from week to week. We see lots of pretty planners shared on Instagram but not always the 'work horses' and the reality of a well used and loved planner. I couldn't keep on top of everything without writing it all down, for me this is much more effective than digital tools.

I am excited to use a standard size Sterling Ink horizontal layout for my personal planner for 2025. I can reminisce over my Weeks, which I always loved, but still have some additional space to write.

I loved this entrance display I spotted at the Ivy in Glasgow yesterday!
Happy Monday everyone!
Fully back to work and school tomorrow for us, so we are tidying and sorting and checking uniforms and running errands.
Itching to check that my own work planner and stationery are ready 🤣. My oldest son is going to high school but unfortunately does not share my excitement for stationery. He doesn't want to use a fountain pen either (I have bought one and have it ready in case he changes his mind 🤣). I think it is really sad that schools don't seem to encourage fountain pen use nowadays? It should be compulsory!

At the Queen's exhibition at the Lowry before Six the Musical, there was a flow chart to discover which of Henry VIII's wives you were most like!

Apparently I am most like Catherine Parr.

I liked elements of the explanation....

"You inspire others to take back control of their own stories. You're smart, even tempered and you get things done. You're the one who survives, Catherine Parr"

I have always been intrigued by life at court and the wives of Henry. I probably know the least about Catherine Parr though, and I feel that there is a lot to discover. For instance....

She helped to reconcile Henry VIII with his children, which included restoring Mary and Elizabeth into the line of succession to the English throne. 

Catherine also championed the education of Elizabeth and Edward. In fact, Elizabeth herself translated Catherine’s book of prayers into French, Italian, and Latin. (An aside: Catherine Parr did publish books of prayer while she sat on the throne, and she did it under her own name!)

Another planning session, otherwise known as gymnastics class, for me!
Horse mascot was too cute not to get in on the picture! (Is it a horse? I think it is a horse 🤣🤣🤣)
I wonder if there are any future Olympians in the class? I bet everyone is feeling inspired by all the gymnastics excitement at the Olympics.

In this beautiful but battered pink leather passport holder I have an almost full insert which is filled with all types of scribbled notes, kids drawings, noughts and crosses and all sorts of nonsense! I often feel like I need a pen and paper with me but don't want to carry a bulky and heavy book around, knowing that there will be no time to journal and that it might get scuffed up in my bag. Today was a family fun day at the park so although I didn't write a single thing, I captured a quick photo. Do you have something similar for busy days on the go?

Yesterday I had a glimpse into some interesting research my colleague is doing into luxury fashion influencers on Instagram. She is analysing hundreds of posts to identify patterns and themes.
Fascinating stuff and the work that is going into it is phenomenal.
I also found it really interesting how their posts and inspiration in the fashion world has potentially trickled down and spilled over in to other niches, such as the planning and journaling community! Yes, really!

😎 Train view! I always feel so productive on train journeys! I could write anytime but somehow the train focuses my attention more and I think about all the brain dumping and lists and ideas I need to commit to paper and out of my head!

My journey is 1 hour 44 today. Can you guess where I am going?
My current library book is a big and heavy hardback so I grabbed a lighter paperback "Tribes" by Seth Godin to read/reread today.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah for tea (yes I am Northern, so it is definitely tea, not dinner!!!) on Wednesday night. We could have talked all night I think! I have so much respect for this woman and everything she does to champion the stationery sector.
Lovely greek food, great company, and a real lift to the spirits to counteract the post-event blues.

Just look at these tiles I found heading to a meeting today. So gorgeously retro and unusual! I adore them! What do you think? Yay or nay? And this is my functional work planner, a Sterling Ink B6 Academic Planner in a mint green Moterm cover. You can just see a Paper mate fountain pen in the pen loop too. I bought this for about 89p and it is an absolute work horse. I am loving the washable blue ink cartridges inside too, reminds me of writing with fountain pens at high school!

Lest we forget..... #beforethepen in my Midori Hibino creative journal. The poppies were created with a small round sponge dabber, pressed in three places per poppy. When dry I added the black crayon on top. Simple but effective! #midorihibino #journalpage #journalpages

A lovely day with planner friends old and new yesterday at @pink.daisyplannerclub The trains were working against me, it was chaos on the railways getting to Nuneaton, so I am sad that I arrived late and had to leave early but I had a lovely time nevertheless!
