Very sorry to hear of Helen Madden passing. Much loved Miss Helen was part of my childhood every day. I waited patiently to hear my name called out in the magic mirror.

She became a Humanist Celebrant in later years.

Rest in peace Miss Helen.

Who do I get to conduct the handfasting ceremony?

This ritual can be an integral part of your ceremony. It doesn't have to be a wedding, you may wish to mark your engagement or Vow Renewal in the same way.

Someone who performs the ritual regularly, like a celebrant can officiate it to make it special.

Weddings in Northern Ireland can take place indoors from 10 July in line with social distancing, the Stormont Executive has agreed.

At present, they are limited to outdoors settings , with no more than 10 people present.

Venues have been advised that their size will determine how many people can safely attend weddings and civil partnerships.

Now that things are returning slowly back to normal my thoughts go out to those couples who may have been forced to cancel or postpone their special day. Perhaps you were just getting started with your plans and those went on hold.

I took the opportunity of the lockdown to prepare to launch my business as a newly qualified Celebrant.

Excited about getting started (I already had my first debut Handfasting Ceremony in Belfast City Hall in January 2020).

I would love to get 2021 off to a good start with a few bookings. I know, I'm just qualified but that's just placing the accreditation behind the 20 plus years of experience in doing what I love doing 'Caring about People', 'Customer Service's and 'Coaching'.

I'm no shrinking violet as I love public speaking, I'm filled to the brim with empathy, attention to detail and event planning is my thing!
