J&D Post! (& recommendation)
** Stumbling upon a VERY MEMORABLE day....... and evening!!! **
🇪🇸 💃 🎶 🎸 🍷 ❤️

The video clips in this little bar we found are VERY MUCH worth watching in our opinion. This is an account of how our Saturday turned out... a truly amazing experience unfolded!

☁️ Woke to a bit of a glum day at the marina park up
🚶 decided to take a stroll to La Linea .... see what this place is about
🍺 stopped for a little refreshment by the square, watching locals going about their business .... families together, simple moments being enjoyed
🍷 stumbled upon a very cute bar bursting with locals and vibrant chatter
🥘 had the most amazing tapas : several different dishes, unusual combinations, some with an Argentinian 🇦🇷 twist and all with a taste explosion (the best tapas we've ever had!!!!! - special thanks to the bar man for the recommendations!!!)

THEN.....

As we were leaving, the bar owner invited us to join them for a drink ..... and then WOW, the best experience began!

A guitar 🎸 came out and the music began flowing.
Locals joined in 🎵 the atmosphere was awesome.
The clapping 👏 was infectious, the music 🎶 making everyone smile (I, Jackie was so happy I cried!)

An authentic evening, a true Spanish vibe and a night that was so enjoyable, special and memorable!!!

People we had just met being so welcoming, sharing their life and joy with us..... sitting amongst them, singing together, broken conversations being had (assisted with Google translate), and hugs given as we left!

We urge ANYONE who is visiting this area (the Marina park up) to wander into La Linea. It is rustic and old, but has (in our opinion) a wonderful vibe and ambience! The people are warm and welcoming, the place simple but perfect.

You must go to !!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The staff are ALL very friendly and helpful, the owner (Maria) has a true passion for her work, the locals were very welcoming. When we left (HOURS LATER ⏰) the place was still rammed and it honestly had a great feel. We had no expectations at the beginning of the day but ended up with one of the highlights of our Winter tour!

Jacs Splat! (A Quote for the day!)
** Life is about making choices ..... **

Huge, great big, mahossive decisions were made by us ...... but the best life is being lived!!!! 🚐 💨 ❤️

It wasn't a quick decision to live the life we are .... Dale and I had MANY exhausting conversations, we discussed ALL our options, possibilities , risks versus benefits but eventually (after a couple of years deliberating!) this is where we are!
It wouldn't be for everyone... but sometimes you have to do what is right for you (and not for everyone / anyone else).

Something worth thinking about is this :

- Retirement age is 67 (but that could change!!!)
- Life expectancy is 76 (apparently!)
- Work 50 years to maybe enjoy 9?!!!!!
- We choose to start living NOW! .....No-one is guaranteed tomorrow!!!! ❤️

If anyone has questions, feel free to ask!
We will be open and honest, true and transparent, we will always tell you the good v the bad, the challenges outweighed by the awesome advantages!!!

We always say..... in a world 🌎 where you can be anything, be kind! And today, we were on the receiving end of just that.....

After a lovely afternoon bimbling round Setenil de las Bodegas , we arrived back at Brewtus to see this on our windscreen! ❤️

What a bl@ lovely gesture...... and accompanied by a v v personal note! It truly made us smile 😃 , and this sticker now has pride of place on my sticker wall!!

A huge thanks to - cheers Nigel and Jo .... and much ❤️ Shame we didn't see ya to have a natter or maybe even have a glass of vino 🍷 together!

Sweaty palms 🙌 and racing hearts 💕 !

Question is - Can we do it? Will we do it?

Background - genuine fear of heights
Challenge- Caminito Del Rey (hopefully)
Determination and a well deserved drink 🍷 (make it a large one!)

Tomorrow, Dale and I are intending on doing the Caminito Del Rey. An ancient gorge walkway (some of which) is approx 300m high along and through a spectacular narrow gorge! This dates back to when it was first used around c. 1905. 7.7km (3-4 hours we are told) walk above ground, on a walkway and overcoming fears!

Historically, this was once described as one of theeeee most dangerous walks in the world.... but I have persuaded Dale to consider it, because it has since been modified and made saferererer! Lol BUT IT IS STILL VERY VERY HIGH.

Tonight we will be chilling. Maybe a wine or two..... maybe watch a few clips.... but that might not be a good idea. Any clips, vids and post Dale has watched or read up to now, has made him feel slightly nauseous and he immediately gets sweaty palms.

Truth is..... Dale has a massive fear of heights. Recently (thanks to my wonderful daughter and her bf) he did the ZipLine in Wales for his big 50 birthday ..... so after doing this, he got a little bit more confident! Initially talking about doing this, he was "yeah..... I think I could do it!" Now its so close, that is a little questionable.

Truth is..... he is going to go tomorrow morning with me. If he completes the walk with me, I will be so happy and proud of him. If he opts out and decides its not for him..... I will be equally as happy and proud because he has given it a focus and try! Completing it is not the achievement..... facing a fear and giving it his best shot is amazing!

So this time tomorrow , we will know!
So this time tomorrow, well done whichever Dale! No pressure. No questions. No worries whatever.

And I promise not to p!ss about and lean over the railings - thats my promise!!!! No silliness tmrw..... I will be on best behaviour.

A beautiful day had yesterday, walking along the promenade to Torrox Costa.

Lots of nice bars and restaurants to choose from so we just had to try a beer, wine and of course some Sangria! 😋

(We love garlic 🧄….. seriously love garlic 🧄……. But we have NEVER experienced so much in one sitting! Note to self - WE STINK TODAY!)

We stopped off at a local restaurant, recommended to us, to try the speciality Canary Island spicy chicken dish. Absolutely beautiful, if you get chance to try it! ❤️

Torrox Costa is a lovely place to visit, not touristy at all and is said to have one of the best climates in Europe - still 20C and above in the winter months ☀️

We have another couple of days here before heading inland to the famous Caminito Del Rey 😁

** Vanlife Tetris **

Tops, Shirts and skirts
Grun**es, posh frocks and socks......

It goes without saying that being in the motorhome (or any van TBH) there is a massively restricted space for personal belongings ..... and especially clothes! Many people will already know this VERY handy hack but if you don’t already..... you will now! The invaluable and game changing PACKING CUBES!

We have a number of packing cubes..... different sizes and colours! Each one for a specific clothes type : eg t-shirts, shorts, trousers, un**es, socks, dresses (mine and not Dales I will add!!!!!) We know quickly what's in each, so its quick and practical to grab the right bag.... and using these makes super use of the small overhead cupboards! In my opinion..... I feel by using these we get more gear to bring with us!
BONUS!!!!!

This little heads up might help someone who's thinking "arghhhhhh, how do I store my clobber in the van!" (You're welcome! 🙏 he he )

** Another one bites the dust **

2024 draws to a close and whatever kinda year you've had, good bad or ugly (or maybe blissfully perfect) here is saying byebye to it! For us, ours has been a whirlwind of mega decisions and changes, and some of which has been scary times!!!! BUT TO EACH AND EVERYONE of ya....... wishing y'all a blissful and lush evening however you spent it..... and more importantly...... wishing ya a VERY HAPPY and a VERY HEALTHY 2025.

You may know our view already .....one life, live it! Make sure whatever you aspire to do, make it happen!

And in a world 🌍 where you can be anything, be kind! ❤️

**BED BREWS & VIEWS**
(Wild camping isn't always perfect!!!)

As you allllllll know..... we love the wild camping backdrop and incredible views..... we have had plenty of them on this trip so far, and we expect more to come!

Finding somewhere with a superb position to enjoy nature and simplicity is what we thrive on. Now, I (Jackie) can never drag my t**h outta bed ..... Dale ALWAYS makes the first coffee of the morning. I simply roll over, open the blind, take in the view and sip the first coffee of the day.

Wild camping isn't always easy or picture perfect...... as last nights proves. Parked up (eventually) and happy with our perch!!! Roll on 10pm....... (see piccies he he) Let's just say...... two of my dislikes:

1) wet stuff 2) a new bed buddy (BTW...... there was tons and tons of other places to choose!!!)

Recently we got to spend some amazing times with these lovely peeps ..... (who we already knew and are great friends)..... but also a wonderful Belgium family, Lynne, Sandi and their four incredible children!

Lynne and Sandi live in their truck fulltime, Lynne does the home schooling and she is utterly amazing at it. Sooooooooo, if you are wanting any Home Schooling programmes or support, I urge you to contact her! The knowledge and enthusiasm she has for this, her style, skillset and the support she can provide is honestly so incredible. She creates superb content to make home schooling fun and educational...... their four children are a testament to that. All four girls were so smart and confident, sociable and a pleasure to be around! Bright, assertive, interactive, clever and witty - and all with huge unique personalities. Lynne and Sandi deserve to be very proud parents (their girls are an absolute credit to them!)...... and Lynne needs her skillset to be publicised, shared and put out there! (This is our little way of maybe helping a little)

Positive New Routines

Sometimes life can just simply get in the way! Sometimes we just don't find the time!!! Or maybe, just maybe, we should MAKE THE TIME! We should stop making excuses, prioritise ourselves and find a little bit of "US TIME!" And that's my NEW aim .... so moving forward.... i intend to do the following every day!

ALSO REMEMBER - it is not selfish to take out some self-love time!

⏰ a ten minute meditation (or attempt) daily! An attempt to try empty my head of all the fluff and nonsensical stress, worry, thoughts and over thinking I cause myself! (This is Week One of the book I am reading - MINDFULNESS by Mark Williams and Danny Penman)

👀 just look around me. Be thankful for some of the most beautiful things around .... of which normally gets totally ignored or over looked, taken for granted or not even normally noticed (we are all guilty for that!). Today I am thankful for the backdrop to our park up! (Ohhhhhh and the sun! The cold beer! The fresh food! And meeting a wonderful couple earlier on, M&B who stoped to chat to us at the van! What a pleasure!)

📕 My beautiful friend Darina bought me this book, and I promised to read it.... so thats what I am doing! Starting today. Not tomorrow, not later...... TODAY! Wintering by Kathrine May : apparently an amazing read!!! I am so excited.

Simple changes are that easy..... and possible!
