Brady and Hindley now reside in Hemsworth…

Yes you read that right, unfortunately…

Apparently it’s acceptable to refer to two members of our Community as the mass murdering duo of Myra Hindley and Ian Brady, isn’t it Councillor Kevin Conway?

This is just one of the numerous vile slurs which have been made by serving and ex Councillors in a ‘chat group’ which they have been using for months.

Ferret accepts that Councillors need a way of communicating, especially when they made the decision to scrap all of the Committee Meetings and moved every decision to a full Town Council meeting.

Ferret wonders who has benefitted most from this arrangement?

Maybe Councillor Stan Bates (Chair) could tell us?

However, Ferret cannot and does not believe that any single resident of Fitzwilliam, Kinsley or Hemsworth would accept that it is appropriate for Councillors to be discussing members of the public in such a derogatory fashion.

The messages which are being shared today, are just a small fraction of the ‘chat group’ which these people have used for a number of months.

As legal action is currently underway, Ferret is unable to share the remainder at this time, but can confirm that some of the messages are even worse than these.

When local residents wanted to hold a meeting at Hemsworth Community Centre, Councillors had other ideas:

It seems to Ferret that Stan Bates (Chair) was not very happy, that his decision to replace Alan Draper was being questioned:

They have been emboldened by a senior member of the Labour Party who posted on fb accusations of corruption by me regarding Micks employment…

So not only was the established Hemsworth Town Council recruitment process not followed, we also have Stan Bates (Chair) admitting that the Deputy Clerk ‘couldn’t cope’!

Maybe someone should explain to Stan what the word DEPUTY means.

It seems former Councillor Shaun (Sid) Middleton is also not well liked. Ferret knows full well why, as he was asking them all questions they didn’t want to answer.

As for Middleton.. He just wants to say anything he can to suggest incompetency and breaking rules. Well he was great as a Councillor wasn’t he? – (Ex Councillor) David Pearson

Thankfully, Shaun Middleton was successful in his bid to become a Councillor – despite the wishes of others who publicly supported and endorsed Ernie Bacon as ‘the only official Labour Party Candidate’ when he WAS NOT and NEVER had been a member of the Labour Party.

Group Chat…

Ferret is disgusted and dumbfounded, that a group of Hemsworth Town Council Councillors, ex Councillors and at least one of our District Councillors have been using a social media messaging application to seemingly discuss, in a derogatory fashion both ex Councillors, members of the public, and anything else which takes their fancy.

Ferret would like to point out that the District Councillor involved in this is not Councillor Melanie Jones – who was also a target for these charlatans.

It would actually be easier for Ferret to name the Councillors who have not been involved in this, than the ones that have.

Not only that, these messages have revealed that certain Councillors have proactively tried to put ‘barriers’ in place to stop the good work of the public and volunteers in our area.

This has even included Councillor Kevin Conway suggesting that the campaigners holding a meeting for LP21 should have been refused access to a room at the Community Centre. The Centre that each and every one of us pay for!

Or what about this from Councillor Carol Whitehead: “Well could use we cant facilitate meeting due to health and saftey…”

Some of these disgusting individuals are also members of the Labour Party.

Not only have they breached the ‘Nolan Principles’ they have also breached the Labour Party’s ‘Code of Conduct’.

A good member of our community put a question about this disgusting ‘chat group’ to Councillor Ian McGuiness in the Town Council Meeting held on 19 October 2023.

Councillor McGuiness chaired this meeting in the absence of Councillor Stan Bates (Chair and District Councillor).

Conspicuous by his absence? Maybe Councillor Bates knew what was coming…

Your face seemed to match the red chairs in the room.

Following the question, Councillor McGinnies threatened to close the meeting on a number of occasions, instead of answering the question.

Was this due to the public in attendance?

Or was it due to Councillor Kevin Conway swearing?

Either way, the question remained unanswered.

Finally, it seems no-one escaped from their chats, even poor little Ferret, who a certain ex-councillor appears to believe he can control!

Well Ferret has news for you, Mr Pearson – You can’t…”old friend”.

Ferret believes that those involved in this should issue an immediate apology and then resign from their positions.

This is exactly what they would have demanded from the ‘cabal’…

Ongoing investigations…

Ferret often gets asked if/when investigative posts will return.

Readers have been reminded that posts into the Kenyon/Eccles cabal did not start until over two years into their Council – It is not credible to post, until the misdemeanours have taken place and then the required evidence has been secured to provide the required proof.

The current Councillors took over in May 2023 in an uncontested election. This means that every single person that put themselves forward automatically became a Councillor.

Since then, four Councillors have resigned for various reasons, three have now been replaced, one uncontested and two via an election. The final vacancy will be filled following an election at a later date.

Team Ferret is now not only investigating Hemsworth Town Council but also the local branch of the Labour Party whose hierarchy just happens to be made up of serving Hemsworth Town Councillors.

This list is not exhaustive, but will give readers an indication of the areas of concern:

Where is Alan Draper (Town Clerk)? He has been suspended on full pay for a number of months.

Why did the Deputy Town Clerk not deputise in the Town Clerks absence?

Why was an ‘Acting Town Clerk’ appointed without a formal recruitment drive taking place?

How many other staff members have been suspended from their duties since May 2023?

Why has the new Council not fulfilled the decisions which were ratified by the former Town Council? Including:

Repairs to all facilities, due to the neglect by the former Kenyon/Eccles cabal?
The forensic audit.
Protecting our assets by moving the Allotment fencing back to its original correct position at Fitzwilliam.

An ongoing staffing cost of over £684,000 – Why is this so high?

Large food orders for the Lakeside Café Bar with very little income.

Why have the thefts continued? Why have these not been reported to the good members of our communities? After all, it’s their precept monies which have to cover these loses.

Increased charges for use of certain facilities – Which residents have already paid for in the precept.

The sale of the land at Fitzwilliam.

The continual use of the word ‘defer’ ‘defer’ ‘defer’. Will this Council ever make a decision?

The award of large sums of YOUR money to community groups linked to certain Councillors.

LP21 – Lack of action by the new Town Council and certain Councillors actively seeking to obstruct residents from blocking this development. Yes Councillor Kevin Conway, it is you Ferret is talking about.

Police time being wasted by (ex)Councillors with wild accusations with little to no substance.

Secret meetings and groups instigated by some of the Councillors both in person and online, in which bullying and accusations have been made against not only current/former Town Councillors but also members of our community and District Councillors.

Potential candidates being blocked from standing by the Local Labour Party for vacant seats at Hemsworth Town Council.

A candidate with a dubious past/reputation being put forward as ‘the only official Labour Party Candidate’ – Was he actually a member of the Labour Party? Is he a member of the Labour Party?

Why has Stan Bates – Chair of Hemsworth Town Council, continually lied to members of our communities in meetings? Maybe Ferret needs to remind Stan that these are all recorded…

Finally, why is there very little (if any) communication from Stan Bates – Chair of Hemsworth Town Council? Do the public deserve to be kept in the dark? Especially after the last four years…

Keith Fernie and Stan Bates: A return of the “Clowns”…

Since the local council election in May of this year, concerns have been raised about the correct democratic processes not being observed within Hemsworth Town Council, with some councillors being left out of the decision making process.

How reminiscent of the Kenyon Eccles Cabal, which is not a pleasant thought.

Councillors have even resigned over this issue and to do this after such a short period of time is astonishing and must make people wonder just how bad it was or is.

Also unacceptable is the candidate selection process, or lack of it, being used by the local Labour party branch.

What have Hemsworth Town Council and the local Labour party got in common, that may just explain why the democratic processes are being ignored and it could be said trampled down as if they don’t exist?

Well the Chair of Hemsworth Town Council is Stan Bates, who just happens to be the Chair of the local Labour party and the Labour party branch secretary just happens to be, Hemsworth Town Councillor Keith Fernie.

As has been reported previously “official” Labour party candidates should be selected by the members of the local Labour party branch and this has not been happening.

Under the leadership of Councillors Bates and Fernie candidate selection meetings have routinely not been called.

The only one which was called was cancelled by this dynamic duo and Councillor Kevin Conway.

In a post on yesterday’s Ferret, Keith Fernie tried to defend their undemocratic actions by quoting a labour party rule that he thought may legitimise their actions or perhaps more likely deflect people’s attention from the real culprits, that is themselves.

Unfortunately he made the big hole they have dug for themselves even deeper and in the process made himself look stupid by quoting a “note” that is in one section of the Labour party rules that doesn’t even apply to the selection process for local government elections!

How reminiscent these two clowns are of the Kenyon and Eccles’ show we had as a community to endure for four long and money draining years.

Ferret also understands that the local Labour party is currently under investigation by the Constituency Labour party.

So just why are the rules being disregarded at both Hemsworth Town Council and the Hemsworth labour branch?

Ferret believes the real reason is to simply ensure that Bates, Fernie and others, surround themselves with people who will be compliant with their way of thinking and obviously at the same time to rid themselves of any dissenting voices.

The “official” Labour party candidate for the Fitzwilliam and Kinsley ward, who was not selected by the membership but Ferret now understands was handpicked by Stan Bates, is Ernie Bacon, who judging by his posts on social media is clearly racist.
Others have said that he is also a misogynist.

Ferret believes he was chosen purely and simply to prevent Maxine Hird being selected by the branch members, as the official party candidate if the selection meeting had not been cancelled by the branch officials.

Once again, hasn’t this community seen enough of this behaviour over the last 4 years?

In May 2023 this community wanted a change from unacceptable behaviour and here we are seeing good and decent councillors resigning after a matter of only weeks.
One of those was Maxine Hird.

Maxine has demonstrated that she is a very hard working community minded person who continued to do just that when she was elected as a councillor.

She did not sit back but continued her hard work even when coming under constant fire from certain other councillors, in council, in the community and on social media.
She was even targeted in her own home.

Kinsley and Fitzwilliam have a clear choice, vote for the known racist and undemocratically nominated Ernie Bacon for more of the same or vote for change and a return to decent values and democracy by supporting and voting for Maxine Hird.

And the final nail in Keith Fernies coffin…He admitted in a post on yesterdays Ferret that he was selected as a candidate by the Labour Party branch in March 2023.

This proves he knew the correct procedure for candidates to be selected as he had taken part in the process himself!

Hemsworth Town Council – South and West Ward By Election…

There is one vacancy in the office of councillor for Hemsworth Town Council South and West Ward, due to the resignation of Councillor Lyn Morton.

As this was contested, an election will take place on Thursday 5 October 2023 to fill this vacancy.

There are three candidates in this ward: Vickie Middleton, Tee Radley and Becca Rushmer.

These are the manifestoes which they have published.

As all of these candidates are active on Social Media, Ferret is sure they will make time to answer any questions that the good people of the South and West Ward have prior to votes being cast on Thursday.

A post Ferret hoped not to have to write…

Ferret is dismayed at the seemingly lack of harmony within the current Town Council led by Stan Bates and is disappointed to have to come out of retirement to write this post.

Ferret didn’t start to share the dastardly deeds of the previous cabal Town Council led by Jim Kenyon and Jean Eccles until they had been in office for over two years.

Ferret has been keeping a close watch on the new Town Council since they took over in May 2023 and unfortunately feels now is the time for a mini revival.

The good people of Hemsworth, Kinsley and Fitzwilliam need to be aware of the upcoming elections which are due to take place on Thursday 5 October 2023.

This is due to the resignation of four councillors in recent months which has led to four vacant seats.

However, there will be no election in the East Ward at this time as there was only one candidate for the two vacant seats.

Ferret would like to congratulate former Councillor Shaun (Sid) Middleton on his re-election to Hemsworth Town Council.

Ferret is pleased to see that Shaun has been vociferous in his questioning of Stan Bates and the new Council in recent months and Ferret hopes he can make more of a difference this time around.

In the Fitzwilliam and Kinsley ward there are two candidates:

Maxine Hird
Who previously worked tirelessly in her pursuit of answers in the previous cabal Town Council and who has also been critical of the new Town Council and openly asked the questions which Ferret would also want answers to.

Ernie Bacon
Ferret understands that Stan Bates and Councillor Kevin Conway have publicly backed Ernie Bacon.

It seems Ernie has been put forward by them to try and stop Maxine Hird from being elected.

Both candidates are members of the Labour Party, yet Kevin Conway and Stan Bates are promoting Ernie Bacon as the ‘official’ Labour Party Candidate.

Ferret can reveal that NO selection meeting took place to select an official candidate in this ward and all attempts to arrange an official selection meeting were thwarted by Kevin Conway.

Ferret will let readers make up their own minds as to why this has happened.

Ferret is alarmed at the racist and misogynistic postings on social media by Ernie Bacon and would be very disappointed if he were to be elected.

Ferret fails to understand why Stan Bates and Kevin Conway would want to associate themselves with such a character and this cannot be for the good of the community, therefore Ferret would urge the good people of Kinsley and Fitzwilliam to:

Your new Councillors are now ready to take office and will represent you at Hemsworth Town Council from 2023 until 2027.

The ‘cabal’ have finally left the building, with their tails between their legs…

After four long years, we are finally rid of the ‘cabal’ led Independent Hemsworth Town Council.

In the Extraordinary Meeting held last night, Ferret was proved correct for one final time.

Jean Eccles, Jim Kenyon, Linda Pringle, Gordon Eccles, Graham Hirst and Stanley Wilson had conspired to try and push through a sale of the former allotment site at Fitzwilliam.

So, what scuppered them?

The fact that two of the ‘cabal’ failed to attend the meeting.

The hard work and diligence of a good number of people within our community, including current and future Councillors who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to stop them.

Jean Eccles decided to make a speech about her time as Chair, as they say Jeanie Jean “self-praise is no praise”.

Extraordinary Town Council Meeting – 2 May 2023, Agenda items…

In addition to the already highlighted issue of the land sale at Fitzwilliam, there are also some other items on the agenda for the meeting which is to take place tomorrow:

07 SPECIAL MOTION – CAR PARK CHARGES, HEMSWORTH WATER PARK

Pursuant to standing order 9, to consider a special motion received from Cllrs G Eccles, J Eccles, Hirst, Kenyon, Pringle and Wilson to review the decision made on 2 March 2023 regarding the car park charges at Hemsworth Water Park and to receive staff feedback.

Ferret readers may recall that the Independent ‘cabal’ made the decision to scrap car parking charges when they took office back in May 2019.

They seemed oblivious to the fact that Car Parking has always been free for the residents of Hemsworth, Kinsley and Fitzwilliam.

This was because as part of the Precept you pay towards it’s upkeep.

However the ‘cabal’ thought it was a good idea to also allow non residents who pay nothing towards our facilities to also be able park for free.

Historically, the income from car parking has been around £30,000 per year.

So, that’s another £120,000 of income the ‘cabal’ have ‘lost’.

Ferret thinks this is such a shame given the state of the facilities at the Waterpark, Playworld closed, the pathways being unpassable and now one of the beaches closed off to the public.

Oh what a legacy you have left for our community, Jimmy and Jean.

How proud you must be?

What sort of ‘scum’ would think this acceptable?

ROCKS! Yes large rocks placed across the edge of the water, due to the Town Council’s insurer refusing to insure the beach due to the utter disgraceful state it has been left in.

Maybe the ‘scum’ could eat the ‘sand flies’ as some sort of bush tucker trial?

Independent Hemsworth Extraordinary Town Council Meeting 2 May 2023…

Fraud and the Disposal of the Land at Club Terrace and First Avenue Fitzwilliam?

Ferret has a word of Caution to anyone supporting this action.

Just when we thought it was all over, up pops the Mystic One, Jean Eccles and her band of five accomplices, sorry ‘cabal’ Councillors, to muddy not only the water, but their reputations even further.

As Ferret readers will be aware, the decision was taken by the Town Council to let the new Councillors review the process of the sale of the land at Fitzwilliam, also known as the former Club Terrace allotment site.

For some very strange reason, this hasn’t gone down well behind the veils of Jean Eccles and the closed doors of Jim Kenyon’s cabal.

In fact, Jim Kenyon has been very vociferous on social media: He has been telling anyone who will listen to him that the deal is now worth £2 million.

Considering an initial valuation was the absurdly low starting price of £800,000, what has changed?

Well Jim Kenyon negotiating without any authority has obviously not changed and still reeks to high heaven, and as we are already aware of:

Jim Kenyon conducting lone “negotiations” on behalf of this council, with a potential buyer and developer.

Hemsworth Town Council, under the stewardship of Jim Kenyon, Jean Eccles and Alan Draper have not had any plans of their own drawn up for the site or submitted any plans to achieve planning permission for the site.

A site with outline planning permission is considerably more valuable than one without.

Hemsworth Town Council and the marketing agents have claimed the site is subject to a ransom access which could devalue it by up to 30%, this is blatantly untrue and has been proven to be so.

The marketing agents and Hemsworth Town Council have now found the evidence of the right of access just where Ferret said it was, with their solicitors, in the Town council offices and with the Planning department.

No wonder when the marketing agent was challenged about this by some non cabal Councillors, the agent said he would arrange another meeting to explain this in full.

This would have affected the purchase price with up to a 30% reduction.

The agent has never returned with any explanation for their claim that the site was subject to access restriction and subsequent devaluation.

The previous Labour council had negotiated full highway access when the development of the new houses at Fitzwilliam, adjacent to the Club terrace land, would have “landlocked” the Club Terrace site.

In doing so, it future proofed its use and enhanced its value considerably if ever it was to be sold.

Ferret also believes this community haven’t been consulted adequately about any alternative usages as the consultation apparently took place during the covid lockdown.

Additionally, some people who have contacted the sale/marketing agents for more details of the site and sale have not even had their enquiries acknowledged.

It can be said from a buyer’s point of view the less bids the better but not from the seller’s, they should be encouraging as much completion as possible to achieve the highest possible price.

This cabal Hemsworth Town Council have not applied for any outline planning permission for the Fitzwilliam Club Terrace land in their own right.

Also there was the “repositioning” of the fence at the Wanneville allotments on First Avenue Fitzwilliam that the Town Clerk, Alan Draper lied about when he said that it was not on the proper boundary line.

Moving the fence “co-incidentally” gave enough room for Highway access to the Field behind that could then be connected to the Club terrace land and other land adjacent.

It has even been proven that Draper was in possession of the title deeds to the site which showed beyond doubt it was correctly positioned in its original location.

Creating that access should have been a Council decision as it greatly increased any sale value of that land by up to 30%.

That money if ever any deal is done by the council should go to this community and not into the pockets of anyone else.

Ferret believes that the council decision to let fresh eyes oversee this sale is the only way forward and should not be changed.

Another point, why the urgency?

Yes Ferret knows that the scallies of the cabal have “disposed” of a lot of our money but does not believe that they should be allowed to dispose of this land, especially in the way they have conducted themselves, simply to provide money to cover over all the damage and neglect that our assets are now suffering from due entirely to them.

Two wrongs do not make a right.

Could there possibly be an even more sinister motive given that we have proof of secret meetings, undervalues, claims of having no access to the site, fencing moved that could facilitate access to adjacent fields and the failure to have their own plans drawn up and apply for outline planning permission to realise the sites true potential value?

Would it be a big leap forward to believe deals have been struck and agreed at bargain prices?

Who knows, perhaps even contracts drawn up and signed before council approval has been obtained?

It would certainly explain the rush by the Cabal Councillors and after all they have purchased things before such as the very expensive diggers, before being authorised by the Town Council.

It would maybe and only maybe cover their backs if the council voted for a sale at the meeting on May the second.

If they don’t it would certainly be Fraud if the sale went ahead, as it is, it could be possibly classed as attempted fraud and the consequences could be very costly on a personal level for any Councillor who votes to sell.

The consequences are as follows for dishonest statements for land sales on documents:

If you dishonestly enter information or make a statement that you know is or might be, untrue or misleading and intend by doing so to make a gain for yourself or another person, or cause loss or the risk of loss to another person, you may commit the offence of fraud under section 1 of the Fraud Act 2006.

The maximum sentence is 10 years imprisonment or an unlimited fine or both.
