As you know Billy Jay has been absent from the airways Live for a while I was privileged to have been one of the few that knew what was going on with Billy over the time he has been away. But I was sworn to secrecy well now Billy his self will remove that from me with the statement below. Steve Medlin
Billy Jays Statement
Hello Everybody.
I have been informed that you are all wondering about my prolonged absence from the scene.
What happened was….
In February I was identified as having a health issue which needed treatment, an issue which I had never heard of before. So consequently arrangements were made for me to have treatment at the beginning of August which under expected and normal circumstances should have taken around 10 days. So I was hoping to have slid under the radar quietly being able to deal with it without anyone’s knowledge.
However lady luck dealt me an extra hand and added nearly 5 weeks to the process and I ended up on a life support system due to complications.
However, despite a rather bleak prognosis I have proved the superb medics wrong and whilst I am still unwell I am in the process of making a remarkable recovery.
I would like to thank my son and daughter-in-law together with Steve, many of our close friends and people who knew and have given support in many different ways. You know who you are.
The Medics and staff at Derriford have been wonderful; however the intensive care unit have been brilliant beyond words. A special mention must go to Jen, our nurse who has supported us throughout the journey since the diagnosis, Jen you are a Diamond encased in Platinum.
There is a fundraising event currently being arranged by us for next year.
My darling wife Catherine has been absolutely incredible and I am quite touched that she thought I was worth it and I wouldn’t have got through this without her.
So – now you all know.
I hope to be back in the fast lane very soon

Hi all, I must apologize straight away to David Lees I misread his text to me which said he was going to be away I thought it was this week when in fact its next week So I'm sorry got it wrong he was available this week but as stated I made a mistake. I asked if anyone was available to cover & Mark Truman covered this week's show. I do try to do my best for all but with everything else going on I made a mistake.
Please note David Lees is away on Sunday the 15th (next week) & either we get someone to cover, 10am to 12noon or I will cover the show. (grovel a bit more) what can I say I'm human
