Lovely to see the young Ospreys taking their first flight. This nest has been one of the high spots in what has been a poor year for successful nests. The atrocious summer weather has seen chicks blown off their nest and even whole nests destroyed by the high winds. Heavy rain has made fishing trips less successful and colder than usual temperatures have impacted survivability.

This nest is one of the more complex to provide a live stream from as it is an Osprey built nest rather than man made and is a bit higher up than normal. We need to use 3 separate radio links as well as 500 metres of ethernet cable and 300 metres of fibre optic. There are 3 separate solar power installations all in remote locations. All this equipment is installed in late February when the weather is usually very cold and wintery.

We work with a fantastic team of foresters and ecologists at Forestry and Land Scotland.

Last week we were in Pembrokeshire installing a monitoring system to allow the MoD to observe an important Guillemot colony during a live firing exercise. The MoD ecologists are able to view the 4 cameras remotely to ensure that the birds are not disturbed by the loud bangs that the exercise creates. The cameras used are made by UK based 360 Vision Technology Ltd who we have worked closely with for over 10 years.

Doing a little maintenance up in the hills above Glentress Mountain Bike centre.Bit cold and wet. Thankfully Stuart from FLS was able to get the Polaris most of the way to the Solar panels. Good news is that we now have full power back at Glentress Odpreys Nest 1 and Nest 2 is also working after a faulty part was replaced.

Yesterday we were redeploying some air quality and environmental sensors at National Trust Saltram House. The sensors are part of Plymouths Greenminds Living Labs project with a range of sensors throughout the city.

Outersight specialises in deploying remote observeration technologies in harsh and remote locations. LoRaWan sensors are just one area where we can help our customers .

A beautiful morning here in . A scene from the historic captured on a 360 Vision Technology Ltd PTZ camera we installed for Cattewater Harbour Commissioners. The Cattewater has a very diverse range of users, from paddle boarders to bulk freighters as well as cutting edge submersible and autonomous surface vessel research. It is an ideal location for all these activities and our camera system helps the Harbour Master ensure that all these users can co-exist safely and productively 24 hours a day.

Good result for this nest in Kielder Forest. Outersight (UK) Ltd installed the cameras, radio links, power generation, display and streaming facilities for this nest. 4K images are transmitted over 4 separate radio links to get these fantastic live images to large display screens at Kielder Castle and then on to the Internet. The Forestry England team put a great deal of time and effort to manage the Osprey population in Kielder Forest and the population increase has been significant over-the-counter last few years. We will be taking the cameras down for the winter in a few weeks time.

The latest 11 chicks take their first flights above the Northumberland forest.

This is one of the Osprey Nest cameras that we install every year for Forestry England in Kielder Forest. It is a 4K resolution camera that is beamed firstly to the Tower Knowe Osprey Watch Centre and then a second stream is transmitted over three further radio links back to a second viewing centre at Kielder Castle where it is streamed live to the Internet. We transcode to Full HD for streaming as few people would benefit from a 4K stream.

We were working for the MoD recently on the Pembrokeshire coast and spoke to some of the rangers for that part of the coast about concerns for the Grassholm colony. At the time there was no recorded cases but this is very bad news as it is not a huge colony like the Bass Rock and may take longer to recover.

The news is a worrying development for the world's third-largest Northern Gannet colony.

We installed the cameras out on the Bass Rock over 20 years ago and saw the colony increase in size considerably until this year. To see avian flu come along and potentially devastate this natural wonder of the world is most distressing, I really hope it doesn't get as bad as it could.

Sadly, avian flu is now confirmed in gannets from the
We will continue to track how the disease is spreading within the colony. The scale of impact may not be known for some time, but reports in other affected species suggest there may be a high level of mortality. Very worrying and distressing times.

The advice if you find dead or injured seabird remains as before, please do not touch them and keep dogs on leads.

Really great to see the Ospreys back at Kielder Forest. We look after the camera setups on 7 nests around Kielder Forest on behalf of Forestry England and this year they are looking better than ever. We took the opportunity to upgrade some of the cameras to 4K sensors with optical zoom and replaced one of the older HD cameras. It was a bit of a challenge reaching some of the nests this year due to the storms February and March bringing down so many trees onto the forest tracks. Live streams of the nests can be seen at Kielder Castle and at the Osprey Watch cabin at Tower Knowe Visitor Centre. If you want to now more about the Kielder Ospreys then follow this link https://kielderospreys.wpcomstaging.com/ where Kielder's resident Osprey expert can keep you on top of the Osprey news.

We are very proud to have installed the Nest camera for this site alongside the team at Forestry England.

This is totally off grid and uses a 4K camera and solar power. The connection is a very long 4G link of about 17km.

This camera was installed in February when the air temperature barely rose above freezing, but it is all worth it when there is a successful breeding season.

We look after a total of 7 Osprey nest cameras around Kielder Forest and are always happy to look at other similar projects.
