Following our Aston Stealth acquisition we have now purchased a second Aston mic for the studio, the Aston Spirit, a top notch vocal and instrument mic and a welcome addition, providing further choice for our recording experience.
For those of you unfamiliar with these fantastic microphones, I simply say look at the reviews and prices. Affordable and up there with the best. Studio engineer and session drummer/percussionist Will Williams.
For those interested in Will's history and where he has plied his trade.
Will played drums and percussion at school, playing with the Surrey Youth Orchestra. His career began as drum roadie with Cliff Richards' band looking after Graham Jarvis, then a top session player in the
recording world. Graham subsequently taught Will who began session work in 1982, recording and live gigs/ tours with many artists including Paul Young, Mick Hucknall, Mike Rutherford, Phil Manzanera, Mick Talbot and Richard O'Brien and many others.
As drum machines became popular so the session work reduced and Will began studio engineer work under the guiding hand of Chris West. Since then he has worked at Abbey Road and many top studios.
I have known and played alongside Will since 1984. He produced, engineered and mastered much of my album 'Holiday isn History' and played drums and percussion throughout. Will is now resident engineer and drummer at Tom Anfield Studio.
