What is convenience worth? Last night on our way home from visiting family we charged at the expensive InstaVolt (85p per kWh) rather than the cheaper GRIDSERVE (61p per kWh with app discount). Weather wasn’t great and InstaVolt was in the KFC car park where we wanted to be, GRIDSERVE was a short walk away. Fortunately we only needed a small amount of charge anyway. Cost around £3.80 more using the InstaVolt charge points.

This is the only IONITY that’s close to my route home today. Looks like I’ll be avoiding this one again. Even though I currently have a PowerPass. Probably use GRIDSERVE and their Christmas discount offer.

Peterborough to Crewe this morning. Average of 2C through rain, sleet & snow. Now got 50% battery remaining, so looks like we’ll have to stop for a Volt’n’Bolt on the way home.

Free Miles! 👍🏼 With all the strong wind this morning it was free electricity time in my house! 17.2 kWh of free electricity in my car, and I’ll get between 3 and 4 miles for each kWh.

The energy split for my commute this morning. It was 6C and I had the heating system on 21. And the heated seat on setting 2. Just me in the car.

Storm Darragh has brought high winds, caused flooding and damage, and it's also brought free energy sessions! Three two hour slots over the course of the weekend (Sat, Sun & Mon). That's 42 kWh put into my car or the equivalent of between 126 and 168 free miles!😀

Did a home charger based charging losses test this morning. Looks to me like a 14.5% loss. Based on the difference between what my Zappi thinks it has delivered compared to the increase in energy in the battery. That’s when charging at 7 kW.
