Ace of Aces blends arcade action with just enough realism to keep things tense. Dogfights, bombing runs and the constant fight to get home give it a real sense of pressure, even if it never aims for full simulation. A focused, memorable experience that’s still easy to get pulled back into! Good memories playing this one as a kid 😇🕹️👌

Ninja Rabbits looks the part and knows exactly which early-90s bandwagon it’s jumping on — I was sold instantly. Unfortunately, once you press fire, the illusion collapses. The rabbit moves painfully slowly, enemies run rings around you, and every fight feels like a losing argument. There are some attractive screens hiding in there, but with thin sound, no real ending, and controls that never warm up, it’s far more enjoyable as a curiosity on video than something you’d willingly play 😇🕹️👌

Womble mania! 🗑️ this time I dive into a predominantly children's game - where Orinoco spends his time tidying up a landscape... that frankly needed a good clean itself! This budget title proves that even a trip to Wimbledon Common can be shockingly dull when paired with uninspired gameplay and visuals that barely make the grade. Was it really this uneventful? R-Type on the C64 is a legendary shooter apparently built in just six and a half weeks! I say 'legendary' but it's definitely no Katakis... in fact, I remember the multi-load was pure agony back when I was a kid.... but mastering the Force Pod is still very addictive. Chris Hülsbeck's soundtrack here is arguably one of the greatest on any 8-bit platform. Playable frustration powered by legendary music 😇🕹️👌

Vendetta hits the C64 with a sharp intro, Matt Gray’s banging soundtrack and bold flips between sneaky exploration and mad car chases. Looks stunning in places, yet the sprites waddle like drunk ducks, shooting’s a lottery and one forgotten clue in the dull drives sends you straight back to level one! Moon Shuttle split opinions back in the day, but returning to it now, there’s a certain nostalgic charm that’s hard to ignore. The controls are quick, the colours lively, and the aliens wobble about with enthusiasm! It may not have 'wowed' everyone at the time, but it’s a fascinating little time capsule — and well worth a watch if you fancy a glimpse of space gaming’s quirkier past 😇🕹️👌

Deactivators looks modest enough, but once you’re shuttling bombs about, it becomes a surprisingly gripping little headache. The puzzles are sharp, occasionally smug, and very satisfying to outsmart. It’s not showy, just well-built and quietly addictive. If you fancy seeing a game that keeps you thinking on your feet, it’s worth a watch 😇🕹️👌
