Apparently, some people think The Merry Thoughts sound a lot like the Sisters of Mercy...

The Bellwether Syndicate have strong Classic Goth™️ roots. to me they have a much more modern goth rock sound. Dystopian Mirror was the first track I heard by them, and it's firmly stuck with me.

I decided to plan the set around some cover/remix versions that I enjoy. The set was originally intended to finish with the Moris Blak remix of Wish, but while recording it I suddenly realised I was 15 minutes short, and added the last three tracks with only a slight panic, hence the "Double Zombie" on the tail end!

Good times.

Proof that DJ Arricc has been supporting the growth of the scene through everything from battles with the church to global pandemics!
Many of our community will remember the Elizium events started in the early 2000's Aberdeen, also where our events were born.
Those who've joined us in this latest incarnation of our events might not know about the 20+ year build up that got the various members of here. So sometimes it's nice to remember where we've come from. Even if those reminders come with posy photos and questionable journalism 🤣

It was **20 years ago** today that this gem was dropped on the world.

Released by Sony in Europe, a lot of us had high hopes for more mainstream discovery and an imminent growth of the scene. Sadly that never really happened.

This, to me, remains a landmark release that shaped a hell of a lot of future acts, and is still the peak of Covenants career to date.

Ah I totally should have shared this here last week... What a crazy 2 years it's been. On all levels!

WE ARE TWO!! This is now officially a toddler!
When DJ Arricc hit 24 months ago I don't think any of us could have predicted the path ahead. The community that has gathered around us, both within VGN platforms and wider in the family is simply incredible. Thanks to your support we'll soon hit a mighty 4000 followers on Twitch. All with access to the high, and other more suspicious levels of quality tunes and chat we offer during our streams and events.
Together we've raised money and awareness for Mental Health Aberdeen , The Sophie Lancaster Foundation , Mind, Anxiety UK, and 28 Group, and as part of StayInFest contributed to funds for CALM , the RNLI , and PPWH - and DAMN have we had fun doing it!
The Goths on Bikes and The Sweaty Weirdos cycled, ran, jogged, walked, and skated, goth distances and tough distances together, some live during our streams!
We've been blessed with guest appearances and support from Goteki, Coreline, , Geoff Modulate , Matt Hart 💀, DJ Endtransmission, DJRedVamp, DarkTunes, insertscarynamehere and many more; and our beloved VRMS has sound tracked the intros to every stream and many of our feature videos since the early days.
We’ve had fun setting you GOTHTASKS which you absolutely bossed, we’ve got a number of VGN themed , we brought the global the wonders of , and more recently you had the ridiculous delights of VGN News 24 on the run up to our special event from a real life !
It's been a *wild* 2 years, and we couldn’t think of any better to have spent the time with.

Sophie would have been 35 today, a very poignant day for us which the family decided to 'Make A Noise' 14 years ago to mark and celebrate her birthday.

This year we join The Sophie Festival Saturday/Sunday at The Breadshed in Manchester for two days of beautiful noise.

As always, at midnight we will end the day by sharing Illusion.
