Riddling morning.
Riddling oysters this morning, sorting out the different sizes. Like anything oysters don’t all grow at the same rate. It is better to keep the same sizes together so they aren’t competing for food.
Would you rather be an oyster farmer?
The She_Sees exhibition is with the aim of rewriting women into Maritime History. You can visit it in the Portsmouth Historic Quarter until August 2025.
Emilie and Nikoletta visited the farm with a view to photographing women involved in the marine world and listening to their stories. The project includes a shipwright, a boatkeeper, a seaweed farmer, a sailmaker, a navigational officer, a captain in the Merchant Navy, a chief engineer, and others amongst the varied roles women have in the marine world.
Bubbling Loch
Okay - I think we’ve got to the bottom of the oyster farts 😉 Sorry! Couldn’t resist 😂
There have been many suggestions and interesting explanations but I think the one from Sandy at Seabank Self Catering on Loch Creran is right - a spring bubbling up from underground. That would account for it only coming up at certain points too. Thank you Sandy!
Joking aside, anyone know why there are air bubbles coming up. Honestly, oysters are not to blame!!
Rarely seen footage of oysters farting 🦪💨
Another beautiful day to be an oyster farmer!!
And we saw a kingfisher!! As we came onto the oyster beds I could see a bird sitting on one of the trestles but couldn’t decide what is was until it took off!! There was no mistaking that flash of blue!
It’s the second time I’m seen them on the loch and still find it surprising - thought they were freshwater birds.
Too quick to get it captured on camera but sometimes you’ve just got to enjoy the moment. So here’s a video of Loch Creran 😉
Stephen Lawson Photography, Bluehound Photography and Kevin McGlynn need have no fear.
Desperately trying to photograph this Tree Creeper at Sutherland’s Grove 🤷♀️ At least I didn’t swear 🙄
Check their pages out - incredible!
Grading oysters this morning and fresh large ones out on the stand. It isn’t BBQ weather but Grilled Oysters with Parmesan & Cream is my choice of recipe today 👍🏻
Happy weekend oyster lovers!!
Costa del Creran today ☀️😎
