Nottingham's unsung powerhouse of creativity has nurtured so much great local and international music, plus we've provided a startup home for many creatives. All without a cent of funding.

The CAF Louis Preston artwork we commissioned shows a small selection of faces associated with Sirkus over the years. They represent a much larger body of mutli-talented people who have sustained and driven the creative vibes emanating from our grade 2 listed palace. We've just had our first GRAMMY contender produced out of the building - to add to the quietly impressive track record. So perfect timing to help tell some of Sirkus' story so far. From it's humble beginnings in the late 90s, when Gareth, Kit, Robin & Simon took on a room from Trev Bamford cos Robin was producing for Nightbreed and they needed somewhere to work on their own music... like Nightbreed were doing - without committing crazy percentages to production deals at the sort of studio facilities they needed. Eternally and gothically grateful, Big Trev 💀

This happened just as they saw the digital recording revolution likely to make those established studios redundant. They called it the 'Sirkus' as a doff to the location on Canning Circus, but also with a vision of sometimes crazy & chaotic nature of the creative entrepreneurship and flair of the people that bring the spectacular.
