Four cameras 🎥, countless vox pops 🎤 and hundreds of attendees 🎉. I even managed to nab a cheeky 99 Whippy 🍦 (only to get a cutaway shot, of course!).

How would you rate your Zoom background on a scale of 1-10?
Mine was definitely a 1 until recently!
Whether you're shooting a video for social or just trying to look better on your webcam, getting your background right can be a pain.
🎬 The rule of thumb is to have as few distractions as possible.🎬
That way, you know the audience is focusing on you (and not the bright sunshine coming in from behind you or the cat trotting along your desk!).
Here's how to choose the best backdrop for your video:
💡First, assess all possible filming spaces. Look at them from every accessible angle.
Just use your phone's camera and move around all the spaces you have access to and see which angles have the most interest. (Hint - appealing shots have depth as they make the scene feel less crowded, so don't film up against a wall unless you want to look like a mugshot!)
I find shooting into corners of a room is a simple way to add depth to even the most bland rooms.
💡Next, get the right balance of context but with minimal distractions.
You'll want your background to relate to you and your video so there is a natural connection between what's being said and what the viewer can see.
But ultimately you want viewers to focus on the subject, not the background. So make sure the backdrop isn't too busy.
If you don't have much to work with, a few tricks include bringing in plants or furniture or getting creative with lighting.
I have a few RGB lights, a neon sign, some books, and a few plants that add some interest to my home office background and it makes a plain wall look much more snazzy!
And always close the door to stop the cat from getting in! 🚪🐈

But today is a big day.
Yesterday, OpenAI announced Sora - an AI model that can create realistic videos from text instructions.
And we're not talking about the kind of AI videos that look like nightmarish visions of the future.
We're talking super realistic.
This is a true step change in video production as we know it.
This will put even more people out of jobs and further commoditise video production.
But, AI shouldn't be about replacing humans but empowering those who embrace it.
Human creativity is still irreplaceable; AI is just a catalyst for it.
